Ildsif

The Ildsif lived in proximity to the goddess and lived in an environment rich in divine magic. They inhabited the Skyrealm. They appeared humanoid, with colorful palettes and various animalistic features.   ❗The following is forgotten history that was largely lost post-Reckoning!❗

Society

With the advent of the goddess's arrival, the Skyrealm and its inhabitants were greatly transformed; beasts took on the mannerisms of people, and people took on the forms of beasts. In the beginning, there was chaos, but as time passed, similar-formed creatures banded together, forming their own subspecies.   ❗Because the Ildsif are not one people but rather a collective of those magical beings affected by the goddess's transformation, it is impossible to entirely summarize their culture on one page; thus, these are generalizations about the way of life in the Skyrealm. For specifics, see the tribes linked at the bottom.❗

Power and Leadership

The Skyrealm was an anarchical land. People collected into tribes based on territory and compatibility, and leadership was decided through various means within those sects.   For the most part, the tribes did not recognize any overarching leader; however, when the Nvaonese waged war with their kind, the Kohri matriarch temporarily enlisted the aid of other willing tribes to defend their realm, forming a martial confederacy.

Economy

Though some tribes employed their own form of currency, no globalized currency was accepted in the Skyrealm. Instead, the Ildsif operated through a bartering system. As a whole, they largely avoided the Nvaonese and did not engage in trade with them, but there were certainly individual Ildsif that traveled between the realms to trade for curiosities before the advent of the war.

Culture

The Ildsif revered the fallen star as their goddess and the giver of magic and prosperity, and would often grant homage to her in the form of sacrifice and festivals. They also worshipped Drakthyr as her reincarnation.   The people largely venerated and revered the land which had given them their divine gifts. Magic was celebrated and flaunted, incorporated into almost all aspects of daily life; celebration, worship, courtship, hunting, etc. As the magic was unique to each individual, it was largely seen as an expression of one's soul.   Many Ildsif took an extremist view towards the Nvaonese, particularly the Aiha tribe which guarded the entrance to the Skyrealm around the World Pillar. Due to their lack of magic and thus divinity, it was questioned whether or not those who dwelled below were even truly alive, or merely existing, much like worms buried in the dirt. As such, the Aiha did not hesitate to violently execute any Nvaonese who visited harm upon the wilds or took recklessly from their lands, leading to travel between the realms being largely nonexistent.
