Kohri

The Kohri were a tribe of Ildsif that resided in the forests of the Skyrealm, migrating between two settlements depending on the season.

Physical Qualities

The Kohri possessed a single form, slender and long-limbed, though generally diminutive compared to other races. Their skin was patterned with stripes or spots that varied between individuals, though most were subtly colored to aid in camouflage. They possessed loping ears and stubby tails like those of a deer. Antlers and horns could appear on members regardless of gender, and were used to determine one's role in the tribe.   Deeply attuned to the divine magic of the Skyrealm, their forms were lithe and less powerful when compared to those of the other tribes, though they were exceedingly fleet of foot.   Kohri reached maturity at a human rate, though their expected lifespan was shorter, with a healthy individual typically surviving to see forty years of age.

Culture

Kohri are herbivorous, and take great care to plant seeds along their migratory paths for the coming year. Despite subsisting on plant life, they have excellent culinary culture and a surprisingly exquisite range of flavors to work with.   For the majority of the year, they are stationary, though they migrate during the fall and spring to give the earth time to regrow, flocking between two permanent residences. Although Kohri are pacifistic and avoid conflict through any means possible, they are capable of utilizing devastating magic to defend their homes when necessary.   Despite their plain coloration, Kohri adore bright colors and shiny objects. Due to the pleasant climes of their territory, most of them forgo clothing, instead covering themselves head to toe and layers of jewelry. Of all the Ildsif tribes, they are the most likely to trade with the Nvaonese due to their possession of fine jewelry and gems.   Typically, males cover themselves only in what jewelry and decoration they can find, then bequeath it upon a Kohri girl that catches their eye. The women of the Kohri tribe see these adornments as a measure of status, as the finer and greater in quantity the jewelry, the more beloved the woman. They especially love bells and metals that will clink together, which they flaunt extensively during their dance rituals.   The Kohri use a caste system based on head ornamentation. Antlered individuals forage and cook, ram-horned individuals travel and trade, and hornless individuals build and clean.

Relations

Due to their herbivorous and pacifistic nature, Kohri are generally considered prey by the more carnivorous species of Ildsif, and thus rarely travel anywhere without a group. Despite this, the Kohri do not fear death, nor do they typically begrudge the other tribes, who kill to preserve the cycle of nature; when a murder occurs against the cycle and the body is wasted, however, the Kohri will attempt to take extreme retribution against the perpetrator.   Due to their willingness to travel to the Deeprealm in order to acquire minerals, they were the kind of Ildsif most commonly exposed to Nvaonese, and vice versa. The two disdained each other but maintained a neutral trade relationship until the killing of the matriarch sparked the war between Nvaon and the Ildsif.
