Rita's Pass is a mountain pass across the
Gimora Mountains and is the primary overland route between
Burland, the Kingdom of the North, and
Branca, the Kingdom of the South.
The pass is located south of
Bhaile-Burmòr, to the northwest of
Lake Gimor, and to the northeast of
Fournes Quarry.
Fort Ragnar, a military outpost controlled by Burland, is located within the pass.
The pass was forged using powerful magic by the
Zenethian Champion Rita, Wielder of the Zenethian Staff, after the
Great War. She created the pass to facilitate trade in the region after the major land shifts and the loss of the
Kingdom of Gimora as a result of the war. The pass would come to be named after her.
Description
The original mountain pass was much more treacherous and inhospitible.
In the late Fourth Age, the pass was wide and clear, and it provided little hinderance to travel.
History
The Third Age: The Age of Zenethia
At some point long ago when the Kingdom of Gimora grew and expanded, the Burmen left Lake Gimor and travelled north, settling the lands across the Gimora Mountains.
The Fourth Age: The Age of Shadow
After the Great War, the Zenethian Champion Rita used great arcane energies to forge a pass through the Gimora Mountains.
In early 4A 995, the
Zenethian Children passed through Rita's Pass northwards towards Burland, the Kingdom of the North. Later, they would travel southwards through the pass again.
