Zenethian Champions

The Zenethian Champions were a group of warriors chosen by Zenthai, The Dragon King, during the ending events of the Third Age. They were the first wielders of the powerful Zenethian Items and were instrumental in winning the Great War.   After the war, they were hugely influential in Azimuth, setting the stage for the Fourth Age. Eventually, the would become the parents of the Zenethian Children.

History

Founding

Unable to meet the threat of Esturk, The World's End, wielding the Power of Evolution during the Great War, Zenthai, The Dragon King, chose six Champions from the races of Azimuth: Sanazi, Angioletta, Rita, Porgorag, Ruin, and Morazar.   These six received the direct blessing of the Dragon King, and from his own divine heart he forged The Zenethian Items, six crystalline weapons of holy power. With their strength and will to aid his own, Zenthai and his Champions brought the fight to Esturk’s forces.

The Great War

Slowly, the Champions began driving the demons and beasts of Esturk back. For a century they pushed back against the encroachment of demons and beasts and won back their territories with blade and spell and blood.   The greatest battle of the age occurred on the shores of Tarteria: The Battle of the Demons' Blood Marshes. Many heroes, known warriors, and unnamed defenders gave their lives in this battle as sacrifices so that the Zenethian Champions could have the chance to push through.   Far to the west, through the battalions of the enemy, the Zenethian Dragon carried his chosen to bring battle to Esturk himself, even as the fighting continued on behind them. Little is known of this battle between Zenthai and Esturk, for only the Zenethian Champions were there to witness it.   But when the final blow was struck, all those who remained across the world knew in an instant what had transpired. The demons were banished and the skies cleared. Esturk was set to slumber beneath Tarteria, and the Great War was won.

After the War

Though the battle was won and the world persisted, the two greatest gods of Azimuth were shuttered from it and too weak to interact with their followers. As the light of both Zenethia, the Plane of Light, and Nadiria, the Plane of Darkness, faded, the Zenethian Champions set to the task of repairing this broken world and maintaining the light they had fought for.   The orc Champions drove the remaining pockets of evil in the wildlands, and to give their people a chance in these destroyed lands, spent their lives driving away the corrupted beast races from their land, sending them to spread their ilk to other dark places of the world.   Morazar and Porgorag felt it best to keep a watch on the lands far above their slumbering enemy, and spent their lives guarding the lands so much blood was spilled onto. Sanazi felt differently, and she headed north before disappearing.   Angioletta returned to the elf lands to watch over the recovery of her people. For her efforts in the war, she was made a ruler of her kind, and through her efforts the elves prospered. Under her rule, the last of the monsters were driven from her homeland, sending them to the winds and away from the elven land.   The Kingdom of Gimora was split, and Ruin oversaw these budding kingdoms and helped stabilize them as nations. The humans were quick to recover from the destruction of years past, and each kingdom prospered with Ruin to bring war to those evil creatures that hung to this world still. Though, after his death, the Kingdoms of Gardenbur and Cascada would be lost to those monsters that remained.   Rita spent the first years after the fight with Esturk travelling the world, mapping the changes that a century of fighting had wrought. She would travel to the kingdoms to spread this knowledge, spending much time with the dwarves in their mountains, and fashioning friendly relations between those dwarves and the human peoples.   Though the Champions worked to repair and maintain the light they had fought for, Zenthai knew they would not live long enough to see the next time Esturk arose. Before each of their deaths, the Champions built great temples hidden around Azimuth to house the Zenethian Items, which were placed within these holy places to await the future generation that would need them.

The Zenethian Children

In the late Fourth Age, during his preparations to battle Esturk when next he arose, Zenthai paired with each of the Zenethian Champions to birth worthy descendants. He put forth to his followers the prophecy of their destiny. On 24 Felim 4A 979, the Zenethian Children were born in Hometown.   In the course of the Children's journey, they would interact with each of the past Champions and journey to the places the Zenethian Items were left for them.
