Dunwall is an independant settlement on the pirate island of Verdenwick. it is inhabited by and protected by the various pirate ships of the Free Navy.
Dunwall is a large pirate town nestled into the cliffs surrounded by the Strangler's Reef on the southern tip of the island of Verdenwick. The town is entered by traversing through the bleached-white jaws of a giant dragon.
Run by the various pirate ships of the Free Navy, the port offers facilities to any traveler passing through, regardless of their faction. Combined with the world renowned Salty Maybells Tavern, it is one of the more hospitable pirate havens around.
Outside of Dunwall, on the small island of Whitebeard's Point, is the giant statue of the infamous pirate Whitebeard.
Demographics
Government
Dunwall is ruled by the Pirate Prince. Currently, the Pirate Prince is Wessley Roberts. The previous Pirate Prince Stannis Brakenmoor was killed around 15 years ago.
There is a strict law on this island: If anyone double-crosses anyone else within the bounds of the city, they will be brutally dealt with.
When a ship of the Free Navy arrives on the island they must declare the amount of their profits, and from that there is a tithe offer (20-35%) to the Pirate Prince. Free Navy members do not have to pay for repairs and have asylum on the island.
Defences
There is only one entrance into the bay of Dunwall itself called the Dragon's Maw, and this is because the skull of a collosal dragon has been placed above the entrance. That narrow passage is heavily lined with artillery and fortifications, and beyond that, the Strangler's Reef makes navigation nearly impossible, unless you knew the safe routes. This helped ensure the safety of Dunwall from the major naval powers in the area.
Geography
The township itself is composed of hundreds of shipwrecks strung together along the cliffsides of the Verdin Bay.
