Humans

Current Month: Julwar 2nd: 209, The Fifth Age
Humans are the most numerous, yet also the most contentious of all the races of Azure. Only once have they united beneath a single banner, during the events of the Second Fall. The faith of The Mandate plays a major role in human society. The majority of humanity in Azure descended from numerous human kingdoms from the Fourth age, and from numerous tribes before that.   History   Originally created by the creators during the Second Age, there is no written knowledge about human society during this time. If this is due to documents being destroyed during the First Fall or because they had no written language is unknown. What is knwon is that by the time of the First Fall, humans had spread to every continent on the planet. There were tribes of humans on Midway and Alantris, who had their own separate histories from the humans on Temalking.   The first Human tribe in Tremalking Post First Fall, the Tremen, divided into various tribes to become the progenitors of many nations on the western continent. Granted knowledge by the Vanir who descended from the heavens to help mortal kind survive the post apocalypse world, this tribe settled the entire coast along the Acean, Sargasso, and South seas, and subdivided into separate kingdoms: Kinarus, Tremalking, Cladia, and Tiventaria, which ultimately united to form the Tremalking Empire.   Humans in the lands of Tremalking used to worship the creators at this time. However, with the Silence of the Gods, their prayers were never answered, and thus they began to worship numerous new faiths. It was around this time that the Humans turned on the Vanir, in order to harvest their Angreal hearts.   The rulers of the ancient Tremalking then engaged in a series of invasions in which they defeated numerous tribes across the continent. Boosted by the sheer number of slaves, the Empire conquered almost the entirety of Tremalking in the next few centuries.   They traded with the Dwarves of the mountains, but never engaged in war with their Marche, preferring to trade instead. It was during this time that the Halflings race came to exist, being a cross between Dwarven and Humans parents.   Eventually, the Empire was challenged from the east by the Hegemony of the Reik, and engaged in numerous wars over the peninsula of Mettenheim. Though lines changed often during these wars, Tremalking never gained control of the city of Mettenheim nor its steel mines.   During their dominations of the continent, the Tremalking Empire made numerous species and races that collectively were called "Weapons Races", that eventually became their downfall; the Scranc, a small but highly procreative species, overran the eastern lowlands of the continent, forcing the wealthy of Tremalking to flee towards the protection of the western highlands, The Dwarven Marches acting as a natural barrier. The Empire then reformed into the Melentine Empire Empire, centered on Konstanton, now called Meklagard.   The empire fragmented into numerous kingdoms in the Fourth Age, the Kingdoms of Marjolais, Teria, Ecthelion, Baccus, Balwyr, Senderfall, Galea, Avendor, and Agaden's Reach to name a few. Others were formed later in the age, but all came to ruin during the events of the Second Fall.   The survivors of the Second Apocalypse then spread from the first city of the new age, Refuge, City of Mists, and repopulated the world, forming new kingdoms and spiritual successors of their old homelands.   Culture   Humans are probably the most culturally diverse race in Azure as they have half a dozen nations of their own, each with different customs and traditions.   Religion   Currently, humans are separated between three main faiths, The Mandate in Tremalking and Midway, The One god in the Serkish Caliphates, and the Faith in the Heavenly Sovereign in Alantris, though there are also significant minorities following other religions. For example, the humans in Alber worship beings they refer to as "Little gods", that their subspecies is able to see in the world around them and in other people.   Ethnicities   Tremen Vaskerry Cladian Kinari Tiventi Melentish - referring to the new subspecies of humans found on the remote islands in the Melentine Ocean. Reikonic Alantrian, subdivided between Nypponese, Shin, Tubalian, and Syan. D'shar Zulucan

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

It has been showing that relations with other species are not only common, but also create mixed offspring, as humans have historically parented Half-Elf and Halfling children with Elves and Dwarves respectfully.
