Verdenwick

Verdenwick is an island located in the Melentine Ocean south of the Isla Drakon. It is the home of The Free Navy, and under the rule of the Pirate Prince. its main settlement is the town of Dunwall.

Geography

Like most of the islands of the area, the main island of Verdenwick resembles little more than huge jagged cliff faces raised hundreds of feet from the waters of its coast. Around the base of these cliffs is the Stranglers Reef, which circles the island. The interior is farmable, and many independent types try and make a living growing their crops under the eyes of the Free Navy.

History

In The Fourth Age, Verdanwick had been part of the mainland, being west of the southern horn of the Iron Mountains, as it curved northward into the Drakon Peninsula.
However during The Second Fall, the planet suffered cataclysmic seismic activity, and much of The Western Highlands and the horn of the Iron Mountains fell into the sea. This formed the Islands of Drakon, Verdanwick, and the various chains of smaller islands collectively refered to as the Tattered Islands.
In the middle of The Fifth Age, the settlement of Dunwall was founded by privateers, hoping to find a safe harbor from the various navies of western Tremalking.
Finding the island to be defensable, it became a hive of pirate activity.
