Structure
Captain of Azel's Sentinels - Marcus Silverkin
- Leader of Azel's Sentinels.
- Second in command, acts as the sentinel's advisor the Emperor.
- Squad Commander of the Pathfinders, tasked with acting as guides within the Empire.
- Squad Commander of the Rangers, tasked with acting as scouts for the Emperor's army.
Public Agenda
Keepers of Myramar forest, they are tasked with patrolling the forests to ensure no illegal activities are happening with the forest. They also can be seen patrolling the lands of the Empire ensuring that the Emperors voice is followed and heard and also act as guides within the empire.
History
Founded in 528LR by General De Ro, Azel’s Sentinels were created with the sole purpose of watching the growing gnoll threat in the east. Wanting these sentinels to be quiet and quick around enemy lines, he employed the elves from the Myramar forest to create this organization. When it was first created only a handful of elves were chosen, and as the years went on more were added to the ranks as the Empire’s needs grew and De Ro’s military overhaul continued.
When the Gnoll’s returned in 538LR, Azel’s Sentinels were mostly responsible holding the eastern walls. With hit and run tactics on supplies, and assassinations on gnolls who were commanding, as well as sabotaging equipments and supplies, they managed to prevent the gnolls from breaching the wall for over a year. Once those walls were breached their main goal was to continue to harass and set traps to slow their advance until De Ro’s army could arrive.
After the fall of the eastern wall, De Ro would task the Sentinels with hunting down the splinter groups that broke through and finish them off, while De Ro would take his main forces and take care of the main threats. The task would take about two years to finally remove all gnoll presence from the empire, and at the end the Sentinel’s would join the newly crowned Emperor De Ro in the capital city. When De Ro announced his plans to the crowd the Sentinels were put in place as watchers of the land outside the city. Their goal was to ensure peace and prosperity continued from all corners of the empire. They were the emperor’s voice and justice outside the city walls. When the Emperor announced his plans to expand the empires influence in 545LR, the sentinels were used as scouts, runners, trackers during this time given their ability to move faster than the emperor’s main army. They also acted as envoys or diplomats when they ran into other settlements or even other races such as the tabaxi.
At the time of De Ro’s abdication in 962 LR Azel’s sentinels had been removed from a more military focus to again watchers of the land, ensuring that De Ro’s vision was upheld.
When Mystaan became the new Emperor in 963LR the Captain of Azel’s Sentinels was called to the throne room and given a new task. The forests of Myramar were to be preserved for the elves to return to it, all woodworking in the forest were to cease or face death. The sentinels were also to act as guides within the empire, much as De Ro had them do, they were to ensure that the emperor’s vision was upheld in all corners of the empire.
In 1157LR the Captain of Azel’s Sentinels Durlan Silverkin had passed away, Durlan had been the Captain since its founding in 528 and had worked closely with De Ro for many years. With his passing Durlan’s son and half-elf Marcus Silverkin was named Captain and has since run Azel’s Sentinels.
