Dawnlight Prairie

Home to Humans, Rabbitfolk, and roving prides of Leonin, the Dawnlight Prairie covers the central expanse of Nionibus, south of the Lady's Lake. Temperate, with winter conditions particularly in the southern portions of the grassland growing quite harsh, Dawnlight is generally unsuitable for large-scale agriculture, and as such has long been a magnet for wanderers and nomads. What farming does occur happens in the northernmost reaches, near the old gnomish dominions around the lake. Instead of agriculture, much of the grassland is given over to cattle farming, creating a culture of itinerant ranchers eternally drifting across the plains.

One of the few remaining tribes of Changelings still left in the world is said to travel the roads between Glassforge and Riverdell, endlessly roaming the vast expanses of empty plains in their colorfully painted wagons, disguising themselves from onlookers lest they become targets of ancient animosities or more modern greed.

More credibly, the Dawnlight Prairie is the place where mounts were first domesticated. Worgs, which until that point had been a yearly menace to the livestock of the prairie's early inhabitants, were brought under the guidance of Glemvale's gnomish population early in the Age of Heroes. Not long after, the humans of the plains domesticated the horse. Centuries later, when the Prongdrift Strider was first imported from Adarinn, Dawnlight's rabbitfolk became the primary breeders and trainers of high quality striders for common use.[p/]
