Personal history
It was on these outings that she met Edward Whitemount, squire of High Earl Clifford and heir to the High Earldom of Dregonvell. High Countess Clarissa arranged many a meeting between the pair, but Edward's father forbade a marriage. When Charlotte returned home to the Rush in 969, the fling was seemingly over. Back home in the Rush, Charlotte was thrust into the mechanisms of war as the armies of Dregonvell descended upon Springmore. Richard Whitemount was attempting to pry her father's lands from the rule of Springmore, and with his military strategy and numbers, it seemed defeat was in sight for her house. However, in 973 Richard died suddenly, leaving his son Edward as high earl. Edward agreed to withdraw from the Rush, and as part of the peace deal proposed to Charlotte, and they married in 974. Seven years later saw the birth of their son, Arther, the new heir, displacing Edward's bastard Simon. Another seven years passed until the final child, Eleyna, was born.

History
When they met, Edward was a 16-year-old heir to a high earldom, Charlotte a handmaiden to a high countess but the daughter of a simple earl. Edward's father, Richard, forbade marriage between the pair, and they parted ways. In a bizarre twist of fate, Richard died fighting a war against Charlotte's father, giving Edward the perfect opportunity to take her hand as part of a "peace deal." In 981 the couple had a son, William, and in 990 a daughter called Eleyna.
Relationship Reasoning
They married for love, but as in all marriages amongst the nobility, an alliance was formed. It was very beneficial to Charlotte's family, as they were only the rulers of an earldom. It is arguably Charlotte's marriage to the powerful Edward that enabled her sister Kristine's marriage to the High Earl of Springmore John Read.
