The Covenant of Nithralyx

Celestial / Cosmic

Circa two billion years following the Primordial March

From among the remnants of Vrokhanna that remained, great creatures emerged, long and serpentine and containing splinters of divine power and purpose tempered with the chaos left in the wake of the goddess's destruction. They were drawn to the regions of elemental power that ran through the newly created the world, finding some strange form of confort and sustenance there. Seeing the potential in these creatures, the children of Vrokhanna bestowed upon the dragons dominion over the elemental properties of the world, granting them authority over the raging fires, the churning oceans, the towering mountains, and the whispering winds. In return, the dragons pledged to safeguard the balance of nature, ensuring that the elements remained in harmony.

From the shattered remnants of the goddess, Vrokhanna, the dragons were born. They were beings of immense power, hungry for sustenance and purpose. They spawned from the remains of the Antecedent Mother, each containing a tiny fragment of her divine essence. As they grew stronger, their forms shifted and expanded until they took on enormous forms of serpentine creatures that could move through the realms of Cairne uninhibited by the chaotic energies that coursed through the young world's surface and core alike. They found themselves drawn to the elemental energies that suffused the world, and with each breath, they found they could command the very elements themselves, shaping the very fabric of the realm to their will.   Seeing this, the young gods of Cairne, recognizing aspects of their own stolen existence in these creatures, sought out the greatest of them, the mighty Nithralyx, who had already matured and shown tremendous wisdom and power. To Nithralyx they offered dominion to he and his kind over the untempered and wild energies that were coalescing throughout the world, and to contain and redirect these currents through the world in order to safeguard their creation from the chaos it contained within.   With their newfound powers, the dragons set about shaping the world according to their desires. They carved vast mountain ranges, dredged deep oceans, and ignited blazing volcanoes. They sculpted the land into a tapestry of breathtaking beauty and awe-inspiring power, each stroke of their claws a testament to their mastery over the elements, yet, with their dominion came responsibility, for the balance of the world hung in delicate equilibrium. The dragons found themselves locked in a perpetual struggle to maintain harmony, warding off cataclysms and natural disasters that threatened to disrupt the fragile peace of the burdgeoning new world, and all the myriad new forms of life that began to rise up and settle their new home.
