Church of the Divine

The Church of the Divine is the official religion of the Duchy of Fremilan. A very similar institution exists in the Armidian Empire, though the two are independent of each other and share some differences in doctrine. The Church seeks to guide the people in spiritual and social matters, emphasising good deeds and charity towards fellow sapients as well as laying out a code of morality for people to follow. The holy texts include the writings of Elshaion attributed to his time in human form and a few other texts and letters written by the Magi, considered saints of the faith. Some reverence is shown to the Archons, though the amount of focus on particular Archons varies by region and local situations. Some orders of Monks or Priests will favour particular Archons, but there is no central consensus on how one approaches this element of the faith.

Tenets of Faith

1. Do not commit murder.
2. Do not betray the bonds of marriage.
3. Do not steal from others.
4. Do not intentionally spread lies.
5. Do not enslave one another.
6. Honour your blood and kin.
7. Forgiveness should be given to those who repent.

Worship

Temple Day, which is commonly the first day of the week, is when the people are expected to put aside some time in the morning or evening to attend services at their local Temple. The service is usually run by the head priest and includes a variety rites, prayers, offerings are made, confessions given by those with heavy conscience, then the Priest will typically offer a reading of scripture follow with ways to practically apply the teachings within everyday life. At the end of the service, Priests will often offer blessings and minor healings to those in need before they are sent on their way. Several special holy days or festivals are observed throughout the year which may see an exception to the general rule.
