Elshaion
The Creator (a.k.a. The Maker)
Elshaion is the only 'true' god (ie: being of limitless power) who created the world. As he was forming the lands and seas, he also created helpers in the form of Archons. Each Archon was given an aspect to watch over and some Archons were given the freedom to design creatures or sapient beings. However, only Elshaion had the power to bring them to life. So the Archons brought their creations to The Maker and presented them before him. He saw that each of his Archons had brought something unique to display, and was pleased. He then showed the Archons his own creation, mankind. He had shaped their likeness to be in his image. He gave them elements of himself, passion, creativity, innovation. He breathed life into mankind and the other creatures, animals and races that had been lain before him.
This is the tale of the creation of the world.
After some time, when the new creations had spread over the world, Elshaion wrapped himself in the form of a man, to walk amongst his creations. He gave them the secrets of magic, the pure energy of creation left over from his work. He chose 12 apprentices from amongst the sapient races, though most of them were from mankind. These 12 apprentices became the The 12 Magi, ancestors to all the adepts that exist today. The Archon Daenervon grew jealous of this favour shown. He felt that Elshaion was neglecting himself and the other Archons who he felt were superior to these mortal beings. He slipped into the form of a beast and went to one of the 12 Magi, a Human named Dumas. He twisted Dumas' mind with promises of power and glory, and together the two of them corrupted magic for their evil plot. Dumas and Danervon (in the form of a beast) went on to use magic to destroy cities, slay thousands of innocents and then put their shattered bodies back together to make undead legions.
Elshadion was terribly grieved by Danervon and Dumas' actions. He gave a portion of his power to the remaining 11 magi, for them to defeat Dumas, while Elshaion dealt with Danervon directly. Danervon didn't stand a chance against his creator, and was bound and sunk deep within the earth as punishment. Since that time Elshaion has been rather quiet, some speculate he is taking a more hands off approach, while some others think that he expended a lot of power while in mortal form and has to rest to regain his full strength.
