The motto of House Dubois - “Yield Not to Misfortune” - means more to Lady Dubois than to most. She saw the loss of her parents at a fairly young age, giving her control of the Summer Plains while she was still a teenager. But tragedy did not stop visiting her there. She lost spouses, relatives, friends, and more through little more than bad luck. But through it all? She refused to be brought down. She gained a reputation as an indomitable leader, constantly challenging the residents of her territory to strive to maintain their reputation for producing the finest Fremilan warriors and never shying away from a challenge that could benefit the people she was entrusted with governing. She attributes much of her fortitude to the Church of the Divine, having become quite pious over the years, and offering a great deal of deference to church leaders when it comes to deciding what’s best for the nation
