Greater Paths

The characters who earn the attention of the Voices enjoy power and boons far beyond the limitations most mortals may experience in a lifetime, if not generations. Consequently, heroes in the Chromanexus are innately high power individuals, and can and almost certainly will reach power levels not normally obtainable in a typical D&D game if for no other reason than the abundance of magic, magical items, and wealth that comes their way in the Chromanexus.   Even still, the Voices decreed this was not enough and constructed options to reach higher heights - a "Greater Path", a narrative-driven character option that ties the character in question into some significant facet of the server's story and in turn gain access to powerful traits and Echoes that are otherwise inaccessible to other characters and creatures for a variety of reasons, the least of which being the strength of spirit and endurance necessary to receive and control the power that comes with it.   These powers are effectively a direct imprint from the Greater Voices on your character's soul. For players, this means your character cannot choose a Greater Path until your character reaches a minimum level of 10. For the same reasons, the same character is only permitted to choose and follow a single Greater Path at any given time. It's worth noting that Greater Paths likewise require giving up an attunement slot in exchange for the power earned, a permanent decision that can typically only be undone with a mulligan, risking the use of a wish spell, or by undergoing a ritual or task specific to the chosen path.   When you choose a Greater Path, make a post in the "Chamber of Echoes" channel found under the Grimoire in Discord. See post guidelines for formatting recommendations and instructions.   Greater Paths and their echoes can, for all intents-and-purposes, be considered artifacts and act as much in gameplay, even if their associated Echo has not yet been fully enhanced. Consequently, expect following a Greater Path to have the same impact on your characters' individual stories and capabilities as an artifact would traditionally carry in other D&D games.
