Gold River
Gold River ("Dham Kuldohr" in Dwarven) is a Dwarven Mountainhome located in the Frisian mountain-range, near the human settlement of Rosenhal. Gold River is known for its skilled jewelers and rich trade in valuable gems, jewelry, and ornaments.
In 4515 E3, Gold River was attacked by a young-adult, red dragon named Deset. Deset lusted after the gold and jewelry the dwarves crafted for trade with the other races, and attacked the dwarven stronghold. At the cost of many dwarven lives, Deset was defeated and his skull and bones entombed within a shrine to Moradin in the valley outside the mountainhome, that he might be a warning to all dragons.
Upon the arrival of the Galatians to The Harlade Mountains, Gold River found a new trading partner. Human merchants gathered around Moradin's shrine in the valley - called Rosenhal - and founded a settlment of the same name.
Gold River is ruled by King Bobick Drakeminer, patriarch of the Drakeminer clan. The Drakeminers rose to promenence among the clans-under-mountain after Bobik's ancestor felled Deset by driving his warpick into his skull. Bobick's brother - Numul Drakeminer - is the foremost cleric of Moradin under the mountain, and is the director of the Rosenhal.
Demographics
Virutally all the residents of Gold River are dwarves. Prospective non-dwarven residents are encouraged to live in Rosenhal instead.
