Graveguest

Graveguest ("Kharn Lodar" in Dwarven) is a mountainhome built deeply into the most prominent peak of the Frisian mountain-range. The only public entrance to Graveguest is via a natural cavern upon its western slope. The cavern terminates in a massive and fortified door.   Graveguest is one of the largest and oldest mountainhomes in the Harlades, and is host to several Dwarven clans. They are lead by the primary clan - Granitesunderer - and their current patriarch: Haghuc Granitesunderer. The Granitesunderer clan has a magical pick of the same name as their ancient heirloom. It is said that carrying the Granitesunderer permits the wielder to commune directly with the mountain.

Demographics

The permanent population of Graveguest are entirely Dwarven and are divided among 6 major and 21 minor clans.

Government

Graveguest is led by the patriarch of its historically-largest clan Haghuc Granitesunderer.

Defences

The only publically-known entrance to the mountainhome is via a natural cavern in the mountain's western slope. The cavern terminates in a massive stone door protected by battlements and reinforced against violanation.   In the event of a crisis, the mountainhome's door is closed and sealed against intrusion, or general traffic from the surfaceworld. As is always the case with mountainhomes, there are secret entrances only the Dwarves know of.

Entrance Closures

In 543 E4, the entrance was closed to prevent the ingress of The Harlades Plague to the mountainhomes.   In 550 E4, the entrace was closed when The Concord of Black invaded Frisograf County.

When dealing with the surface world, Graveguest specializes in the export of high-quality silver-, iron-, and mithril-works to outlying settlements. Graveguests trade with humans, elves, and dwarves equally.
