Corporeus is the astral body that contains all known planes of existence. Created by the Gods of the Fore, it is protected and nurtured by the
Purgoran Shield, which allows for sentient life to exist within its boundaries. Outside of the shield is
Incorporeus, an empty void of space outside of the influence of divine power.
Vacuos, a much more dangerous area of Incorporeus, lies on the outer border of the Purgoran Shield.
Fifteen worlds are spread around Corporeus, three of which were created outside of the bounds of the Purgoran Shield. While the worlds of the
Materium,
Feywild, and
Shadowfell are technically outside of Corporeus, their
dials historically gave them much of the same protections as the Shield. Unfortunately, the Lightfall saw the Materium lose its dial in a world-shaking cataclysm.
Each world within Corporeus is tethered in place by its Planar Crux and the dial to which it is anchored. Between the dials, the vast majority of Corporeal space is filled with the winding passages of
Chorus, which are said to have been sung into existence by the goddess Efsane. Choral tunnels have also been manufactured by enterprising mortals, allowing for a handful of efficient trade routes through Corporeus without portal travel.
