Hector

Hector is Simon's former first mate who served with him while Simon was a mercenary aboard The Vespertine. He brought to the crew some sorely-needed expertise as well as a healthy dose of cynical pragmatism that a young, idealistic Simon found unwelcome.
When the crew took a job escorting the mad Professsor Halle across The Cimmerrean, Hector was the first to suggest the crew cut their losses before his wailing brought pirates into their midst. When Simon refused Hector's suggestion, he cut a deal with their pirate pursuers to deliver Professor Halle in exchange for their lives.
Hector returned to Diamond after his falling out with Simon to find a sizeable bounty placed on his former-captain. He followed Simon to Aspidie and offered a golden lion to Helix for his whereabouts to no avail. In Lion City, he briefly teamed up with a rival of Simon's crewmate, Fang Feng, but the two parted ways when Wukong bested Fang Feng in a duel.
When Simon was captured by pirates on Nimbus, Hector sprung into action to collect his bounty. His efforts were thwarted by Simon's combat prowess as well as the former Moku monk, Lagos.
Licking his wounds and broke, Hector returned to Diamond once more, where he got a job cleaning bathrooms at a mercenary tavern called The Urchin's Spine. He ran into Simon once more when he returned to settle a score with his brother, and Hector reluctantly aided him by informing him of the various other mercenaries his brother had employed in the wake of Hector's failure. Hector watched as his former naive captain, now a celebrated Corsair, walked out the door, and wondered if his own life might have fared better with Simon's idealism and moral compass.
