Mount Laho

Mount Laho is a dormant volcano on Nimbus that once housed the first Moku city. In its early days, the Moku sheltered from Nimbus's many solar flares beneath the mountain's protective smog. However, after the first Moku cities collapsed with the onset of the Helioschosis bacteria the volcanoe went dormant and was subsequently abandoned by the Moku people.   Nevertheless, the mountain holds a sacred place in Moku tradition. All Moku high priests are tasked with ascending the mountain during their pilgrimage and visiting King Laho's forge to understand the dangers of hubris. Monks on this pilgrimage face many obstacles, including a native Gargoyle population and a witch doctor who leads a tribe of Haole who worship King Laho.   The Haole witch doctor is capable of evoking flaming boulders from ancient memories of the volcanoes' eruption to send rolling down the mountain pass. A series of phantom bridges in the astral plane can also be raised with evocation and dismissed with banishment to direct the boulders' path toward or away from intruders. They also keep several gargoyles imprisoned for quick traversal up and down the mountain, and any traveler who frees them might be able to persuade them into giving a free ride upward.   Those who manage to ascend the mountain are treated to King Laho's old forge, including his collection of rare ores and a Dreadnaught fir. It is said that the old king's ghost even manifests at times, to teach those who seek the forbidden techniques of the Spirit Forger. Faithful Moku pilgrims inevitably resist such temptations or fail their pilgrimage, but religious doctrine didn't stop the Party when they ascended the mountain, earning them a nice haul of Dreadnaught fir, razorcite ore, and the spirit of King Laho to join their crew.
