Dariël

The Earth Flow

Dariël, lured by the whispers of Slyduhl arrived at the dormant shape of Cawelt, and intrigued by the whole ordeal sought to uncover the truth and as such cared for the wounded Cawelt, seeking to get his to do her bidding. Cawelt eventually saw through her facade and grappled her, sealing her into his shape. This is where she remained until long after the creation of the world and the falling out of Cawelt and Dariël.   As eons passed and Slyduhl, Cawelt and she created and shaped the world. At the end of Planar Conflict, Dariël finally had managed to escape from Calwelt's grasp but weakened just about managed to breathe life into one last creation after which her form lost cohesion, her essence scattering, creating the weave which we control for our magic, her consciousness a part of it, capable of controlling it in ways we can't imagine following some greater agenda far beyond our comprehension.

The Ethos of Dariël

Far less removed from the lands of man than Cawerk, Dariël keeps an eye on the world, stimulating and steering the races of the world to be the best they could. She is the weave, and as such, she is seen as the goddess which embodies the natural powers, like magic, nature, and life. This is reflected in those that follow her, as with such a wide spectrum of aspects many find things worth following. It is worth mentioning that she embodies magic in an elemental sense, as the learned magic is Itzehiel's Domain, and life in her context covers it in all its diversity, but shouldn't be confused with "living" or "being alive" which are Sersoi's and Troirin's domains respectively.   As such Dariël plays, a major role in druidic circles and other natural communities often called upon as the consciousness of the world, many of which are devoted to finding meaning in seemingly random magical phenomena, which according to them are manifestations of her power. These manifestations happen seemingly at random all over the world but are more frequent around the lay-lines, the effect of which is weird and varied but are rooted in some disturbance in the weave. The fact that these events originate from the weave has sparked the commonly held belief that these are caused by Dariël reaching out to the material plane. These disturbances can last for days or even years, sometimes increasing in power over time requiring a stabilizing force before it spirals out of control, druids often provide this balancing force. The sites of these occurrences are often far removed from civilization, and magically active, and as such make great locations for druidic circles.

The Observers of Dariël

Those that serve Dariël are devoted to maintaining her creations, as such their main objectives are: Ensure all life is allowed to exists, and that the disturbances in the weave are tracked down and stabilized. The first of these is achieved by various means, the most common of which is keeping a close eye on the goings-on around the world, and whenever schemes unfold which either ensures racial dominance or seeks to wipe out a certain race the Observers step in. Preferably by reshaping the political climate, but relocating or declarations of war are also on the table. To this end the Devotees comprise mostly people who are in touch with the world traveling far and wide, earning her faith a reputation of observers, and are commonly called: "Dariël's Observers", but its ranks are also filled with politicians, fighters and intellectuals, each of which is generally travels alone, finding meaning in the world by their path, finding support in those that walk the same path, but whenever greater action is required these devotees meet up en masse, and make a communal decision and take action accordingly. The voice of those more experienced and devout carries far more weight in this decision.   Many consider the faith of Dariël to be the worship of nature, and as such group magic among the forces of nature. As such Dariël's Observers are made up out of many, from all walks of life, with vastly different goals and ideals. Which sees is ranks filled in by those that seek a further understanding of magic and the natural order, to those that seek to ensure life has a single place to prosper, filling in various aspects of their Goddess. Compared to Cawelt's rigid Chosen the organization of the Observers is far more decentralized, they still use the bastions of existence as their bases of operation, but as their objectives require them to be far more proactive they are spread far more evenly over the world, ensuring Dariël's ethos is enforced almost everywhere.   The Faith of Dariël is almost universally recognized, but not always seen as a welcome sight, as their agenda oftentimes conflicts with those in power.   As Dariël is the weave many Observers who have repeatedly dealt with disturbances herein have an unmatched understanding of this natural power. And as such are often sought out by both wizards and researchers seeking to understand this nebulous force.
Aspects of the Religion:
Structure: Various loosely connected cells operating under the guidance of the Sun and Moon elves.
Activities: Ensuring that all life has a chance. Ensuring they are the first to respond to reports of disturbances in the weave.
Religious Gesture: Bring your hands together in front of your chest, join them at the palms, and spread your fingers. Then spread your arm in a welcoming gesture.
Mantra: Dariël is life, and we are her watchful eyes.

Relations

With Dariël's observers constant on the lookout for weave disturbances, ensuring they are allowed to transpire, in a controlled manner. These events, often leaving permanent marks on the world has not gone unnoticed by the Chosen, who are also vigilant for these events, but ensure these disturbances are quelled as fast as possible. This in addition to the Observer's approach to Slyduhl's Wanderers has led to a very icy sentiment between the two factions.   From the Elder gods, only Itzehiel has some sort of quarrel with the Observers, as both have vastly different opinions on how the weave, and in extension magic, should be used. Itzehiel dictates that man should aspire to control all magic and that it is merely a force to be controlled. The Observers argue that it's a natural force, and more importantly, Dariël's to control, man is allowed to use it but should see it as a privilege rather than a right. To this end, many devotees of Itzehiel, who've mastered much about the arcane should be wary of the Observers. There are plenty of tales describing how powerful wizard disappeared without a trace, or even were stripped of their magic.

The Tale of the first Observer

A story told by the members of the radiant chorus, a Druid circle well known around the Glam Bye Regions. Written down by a traveling scribe as told by the Arch-Druid   In a time long before, when the lands wherein turmoil and civilization was still a glimmer in the eyes of the mighty dragons. A young elf, born and raised in the ways of the eagle had just turned 76, and his rite of passage was drawing ever closer. In a way to prepare himself, the young elf set out into the wilderness bring nothing but the garb he was wearing and a long-bow passed down through generations.   Many days passed, and this young elf managed to survive, albeit barely as the forest seemed oddly devoid of wildlife and the trees seemed weary. Following the tracks, it seemed these creatures moved north, in some form of massive migrations. The fire of curiosity now burning, the young elf followed these tracks eventually venturing out of the forest and onto the plains, this is where he was met with an awesome sight. Seemingly sprouting from nowhere a massive grove of alien trees radiating an aura of a weird alien power.   Not perturbed, and eager to figure out this mystery, the elf ventured into the grove, where he found the many animals from the forest. Hungry and desperate the elf-shot a deer, which with a popping sound saw this grove shattering like a soap bubble. With no answers and animals, the elf returned homeward, finding the forests filled with animals once again.   Diplomacy Diagram not available
