Unknown Sea
The Unknown Sea, also known as the Sea of Water, is one of the four Elemental Seas that surround the central continent of Deus. Its waters are deeper than any others in the world, and its seafloor is woefully unexplored.
Above water, there is little indication when one passes into the Unknown Sea. Nothing changes about the weather or environment, and the surface of the water remains just as still within the Sea as without. The first change noticeable without plunging into the sea is the absence of birds—without any landmasses, they have nowhere to roost and can't venture very far into the Sea.
Below the surface, however, many changes become apparent. The seafloor drops off, for the most part gently, though it is riddled with trenches. Strange coral-like organisms stretch up from the depths, thriving despite the lack of light to create city-size structures. Countless forms of sea life, ranging from tiny fish commonplace in the Small Sea to Deep Sea Serpents hundreds of feet in length, make their homes in the depths of the sea.
Given that water is the element of adaptability and thus one of the passive elements alongside earth, the Sea is not dangerous to travel over unless one stumbles upon the hunting ground of a Sea Serpent or Crake, or the lair of a hungry Kraken. Capsizing of a ship without attack from such a creature is incredibly unlikely, and usually only happens in the case of mortal error.

Geography
There are no known landmasses in the Unknown Sea, and due to this exploration is near-impossible. One island, known as the Oasis, is rumored to exist, and its legend ranges from a hiding place for mythical treasure to a secret font of knowledge to an isolated civilization to a city for the gods themselves. Many adventurers and explorers have attempted to find it, but all either found themselves forced to turn back or ran out of supplies and perished due to starvation or thirst. At present, it is unknown whether the island exists.
The bottom of the Unknown Sea is deep and criscrossed with trenches and underwater mountain ridges. Mapping these landmarks is ongoing, though progress is slow due to the difficulty of navigation.

Ecosystem
In general, the Unknown Sea's ecosystem is not much different than that of shallower waters. The diversity of fish and coral beneath its surface is immense, and sharks, Crakes, and Shallow Sea Serpents feast upon the lesser wildlife as massive whales drift past.
Lords of the Sea are the Deep Sea Serpents, who will feast on anything large enough to catch their eyes. But even they die eventually, and their bodies sink to the bottom of the Sea to either be snared by a Kraken or become home to an ecosystem of their own.
