Andustros
Andustros is commonly referred to by a shortened name: Andust. Those affected by Andustros are referred to as Andust-men or women, or Andust-fairies, humans, or monsters.
Transmission & Vectors
A Fae Projected in the bloodstream.
Causes
Magic from a Projected trapped in one's bloodstream leaks into the Soul. Over time the density of Fae magic from the Projected becomes great enough to change the color and composition of the Soul. Once a visible change has occurred, the affected person is considered to have Andustros.
Symptoms
Colored markings appear all along the body, in greater density the higher the density of Fae magic in the body, which directly corresponds to how high the level of Andustros a person is considered to have. The markings will all be of one color, chosen from the Fae primary or secondary colors. (There have been no recorded versions of Andustros where the color was of Tertiary status, but it is assumed that this is possible.)
A Projected is summoned once Andustros's density reaches visible level, with the powers associated with any Fae Projected of the associated color.
Hosts & Carriers
The magic of a Projected is the same magic flowing through the veins of any Andust-person.
History
The oldest mentions of an Andustros-affected person are in monster folklore, having lost all history older than the Sicatrin Empire to fire. During the great rebellion, many fighting against the Sicatrin Empire trapped a Fae's Projected inside of their bodies, rendering it almost useless and out of the Fae in question's control. Notable Andustros-affected people include Asgore and Toriel, king and queen of The Kingdom of Monsters, whose parents fought in the rebellion. Their son Asriel, Monster, the crown prince, inherited the affliction. Azure Sapphire acquired Andustros congenitally.
There is no recorded example of an Andust-pixie.
Cultural Reception
The marks that appear due to Andustros are of beautiful, saturated colors, and thus tend to attract positive attention in Human and Monster circles. Men with Andustros, even later-generation ones, are automatically assumed to be strong and warrior-like due to how the magic was obtained: by fighting back agains the Fae, and ultimately the Sicatrin Empire.
In Fairy culture, Andustros is appreciated for similar reasons but it is encouraged that those affected by it do not make a fuss, preferring that no single person stands out for physical reasons.
