Cernunnos (Sr-Nuh-Nowz)

The Master of the Hunt

Cernunnos a Lesser God who serves under Silvox the Spring Child and a member of the Fiadmorai, the court of Archfey demigods. He is often referred to as his title, 'Master of the Hunt' or 'The Horned Lord' and is often revered as a patron deity to centaurs, firbolgs, and hunters. In the Fiadmorai, he holds the position of the Black Knight.   Cernunnos leads a phantasmal group of hunters who collectively are known as the Wild Hunt, who are said to appear in the heart of storms to hunt exotic prey. Stories say that mortals who become trapped in the Hunt are cursed to join the party, becoming another ageless specter until which time they are given release by Cernunnos and their memories of their time in the Hunt are lost. Some have reappeared after decades with no memory.

Appearance

Throughout the many legends involving Cernunnos and his Wild Hunt, his visage differs greatly. Part of those is due to the inherent magic of the Wild Hunt. Stories of his appearance include a nightmarish knight, a half-man and half-stag monster, an undead lord with jet black skin, and many many more. Hearne, the physical aspect of Cernunnos, is described as a man in black leathers, a black skull mask, a hide kilt and a wolfskin cloak.

Abilities

As the leader of the Wild Hunt, Cernunnos can call forth any number of beast - be they magical or natural - but he favors summoning Cŵn Annwn (Coon ANN-oon), the favored fey hounds of the Hunt. He has the rare ability to create passageways through the Primal Planes which he uses to lead his hunts into all forms of reality.
