Session 93
General Summary
From Pleasure Row to Eredet
When the sun has set in Pleasure Row, the Deep End convened in Haven. They were escorted to a private room in the back that has definitely been magically enhanced. Haven takes client privacy very seriously. The group found Lux and Leon (in his full masked, armored, rose regalia get-up) waiting. Ghilani waved, but avoided saying anything to Lux who gave him a quick once over before tilting his head... and obviously updated Primus. There's an almost unreadable expression that crossed the changeling's face before he wished them luck as he dissipated into a pool of blood. Jeez, do you think Lux just leaves pools of blood everywhere? To answer that question, the blood pool faded.
Sitting down, the Deep End informed Leon of what had occurred. The Doctor is definitely under Eredet and he's doing something called "Void Tethering". Ghilani was really fixated on a new question: Do you know anything about THE Void? Like the definition of the word? Ghilani says no, no no. Like the "Greatest being of destruction in the universe" Void? Leon frowns. No, I don't know anything about that.
If Leon is disappointed by what occurred, he doesn't show it. When Declan explained that they were explicitly told not to trifle in the Doctor's affairs and neither could their allies, Leon was not opposed to working with an enemy. He's worked closely with his enemies for years in Ragna... you just must never fully trust them. He seemed particularly willing to cooperate give the pivotal information that there are 5 other members and that there is dissent among them. THAT can be exploited if done properly. However, what other information do we have? Rani explained that one of them was in Lark'Hal and that they know one has the title of "Bringer of Fortune" (with a feminine voice). Leon warns that they should be wary; you never know when you could be dealing with a changeling.
Declan mind linked wth Leon and informed him that the Grand Priest is The Doctor. Leon paused though his expression – outwardly – did not change. You are lucky I am such a good actor. Though, it raises a concern: if The Doctor sits on the Council, who else on the Council might be part of their "Order"? Leon promised everyone that he will redirect efforts towards Lark'Hal. With the broadcast, perhaps political moves were made that might have been clumsy and perhaps he can expose something of use. Further, he'll give Ezra more free reign and send more agents to back him (and convince Lux to send more as well). He will keep some people with eyes on The Doctor to attempt to understand what exactly The Doctor would consider his "affairs". With that, Leon drifted into other parts of Haven. He did once work there... a long time ago.
In the morning, Rani asked the map where Bonebreaker was and after a moment (of buffering) the map pings... Ah'Shal? Huh. Newt sent to Volo and found that the message bounced off. He'll keep trying.
They then returned to Eredet. Ghilani went to talk to Serene while the other three go to the library to do some research on "keys". After a little over an hour, the trio found various information on the Council of Eredet, some basic information on them, a portrait of the Grand Priest himself, and the myth/legend/history that they each received gifts – as keys – from The One. However, they are only ever referred to as "keys' and no further description is given.
Ghilani found Serene passed out in her office. After retrieving some coffee, he moved a chair near the light lever and, after knocking on the door and startling Serene awake, ominously turned the light on. How long have you been planning that? Ghilani counters: What were you dreaming about? Ghilani opens with the fact that he's been trancing for 4.5 hours... and you're dreaming. Ghilani showed Serene his changeling-like abilities and then explained that he probably added 15 minutes to his trance time by doing that. Serene assumed that he's a changeling-elf. That may explain, at least in part, why he is able to practice blood magic when all arcane and historical accounts document the practice only among women. Ghilani then asked why Serene was sleeping. Serene, after a sigh, revealed that her father married twice: once for political gain and once... not. Her mother was neither an elf nor a noble, but one of the best arcane practitioners of her time. Hence, she is not a full elf, but she prefers others to see her that way.
Ghilani noticed that Serene wasn't wearing her spell storing ring. That's odd, she never parts with that (except the one time she loaned it to him). Serene quickly assured him that she's just getting it... cleaned, as she covered her left hand in the process. Really? You'd just trust anyone to clean it? Serene quickly asked about the group heading to Elios. Do you have a guide? You must be certain, otherwise getting across the mountains may be tricky. And when you are done, you return to me. Not my father, to me. Ghilani nods. And then continues asking questions: Why are you tired, by the way? What are you working on exactly? I am trying to access something no one has ever accessed before via divine, arcane, and necromantic magic to potentially resurrect a god. That is why I am tired. So... like The Void? Serene gave Ghilani a look and slowly responded... yes. If the Dread King killed Judas during the war, where would his divine soul, if any, go? Not to a court... Ghilani surmises it would go to The One or to The Void. yes, so I need to go there. Raise Dead and Resurrect are not enough.
As Serene gestured, Ghilani noted that she... does actually have a ring on. An engagement ring. Ghilani got excited very quickly. So will it be Mr. Valdove or Mrs. Khalil? Serene gave Ghilani a smile, but there's an odd underlying sense of nausea and discomfort underneath. Ghilani offered a carnation – to give to the Mister (a gift from YOU, not me). And also I love you (not like that, but you know). Serene sighs, yes. I love you too. Ghilani then whipped out the rose and it took on a blue and teal hue... with a tiny bit of black at the edges. Oh man, more questions just keep popping up!
Do you have an insatiable appetite? Do you have a bit of The Void? I had 2 scones yesterday and no I do not. Why are you messing around with The Void? After a moment, Serene asked what Ghilani would be willing to do for his mother? To save the continent? Almost anything, he responded. Serene would do anything. She is the reason her mother is dead. She is the reason her family fell apart. She will do this. And she will fix everything. And she will need Ghilani's help to do it. Even if you aren't around to see it? Yes.
As Ghilani moved to leave, he wished Serene the best with her new engagement and... she didn't respond. As he thought on whether or not she had that "glow" about her... some of her reactions seemed odd. it IS a practice among the nobility to arrange marriages...
Reconvening, Ghilani immediately told everyone that Serene is not an elf. THAT'S why she's sleeping! Ghilani doesn't think she has a bit of The Dread King (she only ate like 2 scones) and the lethargy is most definitely because she's just so overworked. He refrained from discussing the engagement. Rani went back into the library and very easily found some arcane textbooks on lost magical arts and spell creation by Shima Valdove. The image depicted a half-elven woman, perhaps, who looked a lot like Serene.
The T-posing Moira sent to Pekk who offered to send them an additional guide to Sun'Sotét, a small village on the Fringes of the Anwar-Dai. After gathering the ship's crew, the Diving Board levitated for the first time in months and set off towards the mountains. Newt sent to good ol' dad. Oh, you're going to the mountains? Yes, of course, I'll let your "uncles" know! Failing to account for the word limit in sendings must run in the family.

Into the Anwar-Dai
Ghilani sent to Ismera via the scale. Hey, was in a rough spot, but I'm fine now! What do you know about The Void? How do you feel about polyamory? Do you know Parvathian? Ismera responded, very confused. The Void? I shall consult the Library. P-Polyarmory? In what sense are you a-asking? I don't know a Parvathian. Rani attempted to see if she could locate the swords missing from the Temple in Varoona, but found that the map doesn't seem to respond to that prompt. Declan checked in with Six. The gold dragonborn was very helpful with fixing up the dragonborn onesie, the key spellcasting component in her polymorph ritual. She is working slowly towards getting into the Dragon Clan "inner" Estate. Stealth, remember? Oh, did you know about Star Root Paste? You could have dark vision! How do you think the Gold Dragon Clan got so wealthy? They're very stingy about it.
Arriving in the village of Sun'Sotét, the town is relatively quaint with snow-covered buildings and odd wooden beams extending from some of the roof tops. There are a variety of races and people here, but very few feathered Elians. Nearing the Mayor's Lodge – the largest building in the town – there is a stingle, vaguely familiar aarakocra perched on the roof, same scowl in place as last time. Rhovahk doesn't see the need to get off his "high perch" so to speak. He announced that he's here to take the Deep End to Sun's First Grace. After asking some initial questions, Rhovahk seemed less stand-offish towards Rani. To Newt: how good of a flyer are you? We'll see how you hold up. Rhovahk whistled and two more aarakocra (Soarin and Ren) emerged from the Lodge. They, like Rhovahk, sport leathers and bows and arrows as well as five braids. They all appear like hunters.
Newt took the heavy-armor-wearing Moira and ascended with the other three (Soarin with Declan, Ren with Ghilani, and Rhovahk with Rani). As they ascend, Rani talked to Rhovahk, mentioning the Bhediya and how they live. As she talked, Rhovahk seemed to give less and less basic responses and actually provided his own input. If you're respectful to my people, you'll be fine. Obviously, if you've gotten permission to go to the city, you're off to a good start. Braids represent where we're at in our journey. Growth is important to us. He talked a bit about the illness affecting mostly the hunters of his people: sudden onset lethargy (the symptom that kills, it seems), black discharge from the eyes, an inability to get warm, and increased appetite. Ren commented that Ghilani is as light as her two-year old. Ghilani is very proud of his figure. Ghilani asked Ren if she knew someone called Nana Nine. Who? After seeing an image, though, Ren responded that ah yes, Nine Elis. She's a priestess of Elis. Soaring seemed to be vibing as he whistled and swung Declan around. Do you know a Nana Nine? Nah, don't know who that is. Small community, I know everyone. If you want, you can flip me. Flip you? You can't fly, my man. We can't flip position. No I mean- never mind.
Ghilani asked Ren about Pekk and what happened to his wing. She doesn't respond, but Ghilani noted the look she gave towards Rhovahk. Then, the three Elians tucked their wings and dropped. Newt was just able to discern a slight distortion in the air. The sudden powerful wind was jarring and Newt was initially shunted out, earning a few chuckles from the Elians. On the second attempt, Newt is able to adjust to the winds. After a bit, it was actually really nice being "carried" by the wind. The mountains below zip past as they fly across the large mountain range. However, there is a very obvious area obscured by thick clouds and swirling snow.
As the sun sets, the Elians deposited the Deep End at a well-maintained, but certainly abandoned hunting lodge. They moved towards wooden pods embedded in the mountainside to sleep for the evening. Newt noted that its odd that the Elian people even have a lodge on the ground. The Elians don't seem to use it. Rani poked around and noted that, while there is some evidence of foot traffic, it's been years since this was regularly inhabited. The Elian borders weren't always closed, but they have been for her entire lifetime. Perhaps people used to travel this way?
Newt mentioned that he's not sure what to tell Sage or how to even broach the topic of his father. He needs to reach out to her, but he doesn't want her going after him, at least right now. Declan and Rani offered some advice and thoughts. Newt sent to Sage, inquiring where she was at and informing her that he's going to be in Sun's First Grace tomorrow. Sage responded – with thinly veiled anger – that she is NOT in SFG. She's in an ice palace. Yes, Ikaris is here. She's heard about dad. See, you don't even HAVE to tell her!
Ghilani has a new spell! The entire interior of the lodge was covered with blood before fading to smoke. Now it's a private sanctum! Ghilani then stepped out of said sanctum to respond to Ismera again. I mean polyamory in the sense that you are thinking of. I had a near-death experience so I'm seeing things differently now. There's a bit of a delay and then Ismera responded with an undercurrent of "did something happen to Ghilani" and "hope (?)". I support polyamory; I've done it before.
Newt followed up with Sage: You're not trapped in said ice palace, are you? No, I'm fine Hornbeak is here. I'll be here. You're welcome to come by. Her anger seems to have simmered down to slight frustration Regardless, she seems fine? She's probably completely content in an area that's freezing cold! Probably feels like home!
Flying once more, Rani asked about the political structure of Elios. They have an elected chieftain: Eonan. Otherwise, it's a very loose political structure. Hunters and Gatherers hold weight as they support the society, especially in the winter. Those with more braids are considered further along in their journey. When Rani mentioned Pekk, Rhovahk tensed slightly, but spoke of Pekk with respect. He's done an excellent job putting up with the fools in Eredet. Meanwhile, Declan got recommendations from Soarin as they whistled a duet. Try the Egg Basket for food and drink or, if you have a sweet tooth, you can try the Frosted Muffin.

Welcome to Sun's First Grace You of Non-Feathered Variety
Sun's First Grace is located within an odd pocket of warmth within the bitter cold of the Anwar-Dai. The "city" itself is composed of pod-like buildings strung up between rock pillars that emerge from a dark, seemingly bottomless chasm. While their are buildings on the mountain slopes nearby, they don't seem as inhabited or used. The three Elians bring the group to a landing platform in the middle of the "floating" city. Despite most of the people being able to fly, there are very well-kept bridges throughout.
Soarin and Ren excused themselves, but Rhovahk remained. He noted that while you are here, you own everything and nothing at all. It's a completely open society. Rani was quick to ask about, you know... if they put a hat on the tapestry or anything. Rhovahk blinked and then followed up with, ah yes, we put out feather arrangements for that. If you're here to solve our big issue with the Hunter's Sickness, then perhaps you should talk to the Chieftain. Following Rhovahk, the bridges and walkways are lined with little terracotta "lanterns" containing small yellow-orange crystals. Passing an elderly Elian sporting 5 braids, Rhovahk stepped to the side and bowed slightly in acknowledgement. Do we all need to bow? Those with 5 braids and elders deserve the highest respect. You may bow if you wish.
The Chieftain's Perch is a massive conglomerate of pods. Entering the foyer, Rhovahk motioned to the only doorway with a tapestry hanging in it. The Chieftain is through there. Go as you please. As he left, he called out: this is what the Mayor's Lodge in Sun'Sotét is supposed to be. He then fell out the window and flew off.
Passing through the tapestry, there is a meeting space catering more towards Elians with perches and pillows lining the space. Pekk Nozhawk sat drinking tea with another Elian: Chieftain Eonan. She was incredibly pleased with Rani's offering. Tea? How did you know?! She is, apparently, a tea lover. She welcomed the entire group to Sun's First Grace. As you have just traveled the Anwar-Dai, feel free to rest. We are an open community here. What is ours is yours, though we expect that you will offer appropriate trade or the promise of favors for certain things.
Ghilani asked about the Villám situation, describing it as "middling to significant". Eonan explained that she would place the situation as very significant. Do you know what we believe Villám to be? Ghilani vaguely responded in the ballpark of correct. Villám is pure sun and storm imbued into crystalline form or the tears of Elis herself. It is a sacred and holy thing that the Elian people and culture cherishes. Yet, it has been commandeered to feed the technological monstrosity of the Neg'Varos Bay. And now it is being stolen. Eonan is well aware of where all the mines are as it is not a secret that they exist. Regardless, she seems to want to take a harder, more stern approach with the Fringe leadership.
Speaking of problems, Pekk has assured Eonan that the group is capable of helping with the illness. Eonan explained that it is a relatively recent occurrence and the hunters would perhaps know the most. She is confident that it is not coming from their city, which excludes their local Villám mines and stores (Rani suspected that may be a good starting location to look for crystals).
Regarding the Temple, how familiar are you with Elis' tenets? Elis is a Goddess who believes in defining your horizons – your boundaries – and shattering them. Growth is integral to the Elian people. We have 30 years to live and we choose to make them impactful and meaningful. Further, she is a Goddess of the Sun, yet each of us possesses our own, inner sun. We must foster that warmth. We also believe that one should strike true – a single shot to down a hunted foe defines a true hunter. Our braids are indicative of our process. The final braid is earned at the Temple of Elis. Pekk has attested to the Deep End's individual characters. Eonan was willing to permit them to being undertaking the braid process. If they wish, they must simply speak with Instructor Gosso at the Ceremonial Hunting Grounds.
As the Deep End left, Pekk saw them out. Thank you for your assistance; it is appreciated. Sorry it took us so long to get here.
Hunter's Gift is a large platform where people seem to gather to sunbathe, do crafts, dry herbs and meat, and exchange stories. The Hunters flock here, easily distinguishable by garb and by their tendency to sport more braids. Among them is Rhovahk, though he seems to keep to himself, and a rather charismatic, big, blue bird. Speaking to Rhovahk, he – with some reluctance – gathered the rest of the hunters. Rani gave a general "elevator pitch" of the situation. Have you seen these crystals (cue Ghilani)? What it seals is the cause and if we fix that, we'll fix this illness. None of the hunters have seen any crystals matching the description, but Rhovahk, after a moment of silence, says that he's already pieced together where they would likely be: North, in Szorm'Szor territory. Again, the Deep End asks: What is a Szorm'Szor?
The blue bird chimed in. Rhovahk, you really must give them more information. Szorm'Szor are sacred beasts. Large and covered in fur with beaks that can crush you easily. If we know the location, then I can surely get you there if you require an Elian guide. Rani commented that, well, you wouldn't know how to find a sand cat. A what now? Exactly, this is your land. We'll defer to you. Ah, I'm Jhaxton Jae by the way. If you'd like, we can head out in the morning and wipe this whole thing out before it becomes a problem. As Jhaxton retreated, Newt and Ghilani noted that Rhovahk had slipped away from the conversation, moving to a corner perch.
Ghilani went to talk to Rhovahk, commenting that Jhaxton is a lot. Rhovahk sighed. He is, but if this gets taken care of, then it's fine. He'll get you there. Ghilani asked if Rhovahk would go with them. Rhovahk scowled. Not with him going, but... he'll think about it. Ghilani then asked about the Temple when he noticed Rhovahk looking in that direction. You have 5 braids, do you go back there often? Yeah, every now and then. Rhovahk mentioned that his dad is the High Priest. Some of the Elian traditions can be kind of crappy... he didn't see his dad until he was 6. It's fine, though, he was raised by the community.
As Ghilani left, he turned right back around to provide back-up support for Newt who then went to talk to Rhovahk. Hey, this place is really something. I've never been in a place that's so... open. I wanted to apologize. Rhovahk was taken aback, but settled a bit. That's appreciated. When Newt mentioned that he was from Ah'Shal, Rhovahk was quick to remark that Ah'Shal is a terrible place. It's also the reason, in part, that the Fringes of the Anwar-Dai have become what they are today. Newt hopes that one day he can fix that. Rhovahk's only seen it get worse in his 7 years. Rhovahk then sneezed and Newt just managed to notice the tiniest bit of black. Are you okay? Yeah, why? Are you sure you're okay? Rhovahk squints. Yes, I just carried your friend across a mountain range – I'm fine. Sure, sure. Newt also attempts to get Rhovahk to go with them. Rhovahk rolled his eyes. I already told your friend I'll think about it. Rhovahk, however, does agree to join the group for drinks later. He then fell off the perch and flew off.
Declan and Rani, meanwhile, stared at each other intently in the middle of the platform not saying anything... at least, out loud. Rani was concerned that they were falling back into their old ways. Are we not just rushing into things again? What about the Villám? What if we do the Titan and then we can't do the Temple? What if this triggers something? Declan assured Rani that everything will be fine. We can't deal with the Villám right now. We can't afford to cross him. Rani argues that they should at least warn the Chieftain what she's messing with. An old man then interrupted them, a bit perplexed by their odd staring contest.
Finding a place to rest, the Deep End noticed a flock of Elian people leave the Chieftain's perch. One-by-one the walkways began to light up with a warm, yellow-orange glow. Ghilani also deciphered a journal entry.
The Deep End went to the Egg Basket, managing to make their way across to the "floating" bar stools. A dorito-shaped owl Elian came by to take their orders, accepting an explosive crossbow bolt and dim gem in exchange for some drinks and food. when asked for food recommendations, he responded "EGG". Tyto, the bartender, brought flights of drinks and a tea-based cocktail for Rani as well as some "steak and egg" looking meals. Rhovahk, true to his word, did join, taking two shots quickly. Newt decided to keep pace with the Elian.
A little bit later, a large shadow passed over a portion of the bar and there were some cheers from the patrons on the roof. The shape of a massive Elian was visible for the briefest of moments before an elven man was swung into a seat completely unfazed as if he's done this many times before. His hair has been arranged into 5 dreadlocks to mimic braids, though one of them is shorter than the rest. The Elians great the elven man like an old friend as he orders drinks and a meal. A commotion is heard on the roof. Nina, welcome back! How about enhancing my wings? That sounds like you're trying to compensate for something now!
A tiny lavender-colored Elian then landed on the bar. I have returned! Drinks on me! The small Elian is maybe 4 feet tall, dressed in sun regalia. She sports five long braids, one of which is slightly longer than the rest: the tip a darker color. Ghilani stealthily pulled up the image of Nana Nine and... it matched. The two locked eyes. I didn't know elves could be so thin! Again, Ghilani is very proud of his figure.
Keys & the Council
According to legend (or history), Grand Priest Ihyesult bestowed a set of gifts – referred to as keys – upon each member of the original Council of Eredet. Included in the text is a weathered portrait of Ihyesult himself. The Council of Eredet members included:- Kiera Hallal – A tiefling woman from Ah'Shal – Founded a Mortuary in the City of Eredet
- Fi-Fi-Fella-Fema Fowell – an aarakocra woman from Elios – the Aviary and Observatory in the University of Eredet is named after her
- Wisteria Rose – An elderly halfling woman from Tel'Rhea – there is a statue of her in the Élet Nature & Wildlife Sanctuary
- Ghidoran Once-Gold – A gold dragonborn from Caliban – The Once-Gold Tea Lounge is named in his honor
Rumors in Sun'Sotét
I've got no right to berate any avian Elians, but does that bard really have to sing of the Lady of Winter? Damn well might invite her here! This winter already has enough bite without her.
You think if they were so concerned with it and as legendary as they claim it to be... they would have actually done something about it now. They certainly aren't scaring the Villám thieves off just by lounging in the Mayor's Lodge all day!
Rumors in Sun's First Grace
Not even Rhovahk can hide his guilt behind that constant scowl of his. If Rhovahk truly feels sorry for what happened, he should volunteer to take Pekk's place in Eredet. Rhovahk doesn't have the composure Pekk does. He'd only make matters worse, but... he's spent far too long away from the Anwar-Dai.
It's about time we had a Chieftain with such a spine. Those towns may be on the fringes of the Anwar-Dai but they're still on our lands... and they've clearly shown a disregard for the sacred role of Villám. Make those Mayors squire. They deserve it.
Don't you want to know her secrets? How has she stayed so young for so long? She never shows any signs of aging! Maybe we just need to spend a lot of time with an elf. Maybe the anti-aging rubs off!

Journal Entry
Judas is not himself. I know not how... there is simply something off about him. Certainly I have no right to say this, but that is why I can write instead? Is it odd that I welcome this change in him, whatever it may be? The other priestesses whisper behind the curtains or in the few darkened corners of the Temple. Our God of Fortune carries with him a different disposition... a different aura. It is as if he was renewed with a new purpose. My handmaidens say that they fear the new intensity in his gaze. I am not afraid. I find myself... charmed? What is wrong with me? I was repulsed by the idea of marrying him not but months ago! Perhaps he has noticed something different about me for he stays at the edge of my reach, drifting to the opposite ends of a room or at the far end of a table. When I squint my eyes, I feel I can see things that are not there. Perhaps I shall find one of the visiting Carmenthian doctors. Clearly, I am ill.Dysis Judas
