Session 97
General Summary
Dream Visits from Gods & Goddesses
When Declan opened his eyes in the dream space... he was NOT on the golden platform. Instead, he found himself at the base of the steps leading to Therarask's throne with the god in question lounging atop it. You finished with those Titans, yes? Youl'll come home now? Declan responded no, I can't. With a dramatic sigh, Therarask stands, lethargically strolling down the stairs, swinging Declan's blade back and forth with a look of contemplation on their face. Half of their face still remained encased in golden scars.
First of all, the size of one's sword does matter... in certain circumstances, dearest. Second of all, if there are still dangers you INSIST upon charging into... you should protect yourself. Protection is important. I've been remiss. A blood witch issues you protection and... ugh, I hate being outperformed. And I also suppose this wholde dreaded affair will end sooner if creatures STOP running away from you... perhaps I can help with that as well.
As Therarask stopped in front of Declan, they are standing not floating for once. When offered the handle of the blade, Declan takes it. Therarask glides their hand over the metal, the blade grows. Can you only do that with metal? Would you like to see what else I can do that with? Therarask winked and wound their arms around one of Declan's. Per usual dream protocol, Declan asked a question: did you know my dad was in prison?? Oh, who has him? Ragna or Nacheevi? Therarask manetioned that the Ladies of Life do have a little... secret operative that moves the "unsavory" people out of their land. Typically to fight in Ragna. Don't worry, he won't get out of prison in Nacheevi.
Declan asked Thera if they had any questions for him. Therarask asked if they had anything specific they wanted with boat – it is still in the Sanctum. Why would they get rid of it? Declan would LOVE an easy way to teleport between boat and Sanctum. Perhaps get with Varoona on it? Very well. Therarask mentioned something regarding the Dread King's War as Declan snapped out of the dream.

Ghilani's trance was interrupted as he found himself in an unfamiliar garden. It was incredibly green and lush, filled with flowers in all colors, sizes, and arrangements. In the distance, Ghilani heard the faintest sound of sobbing from within the grove. Before following the noise, he picked a flower – in the new color "turple" – and set off. Ghilani found a young woman with shoulder length green hair adorned with flowers and braids. Startled by the sound of someone else's voice, she turned, pink eyes web with tears. Almost immediately, she rolled her shoulders back and straightened, eyes hardening. Why are you here? How are you here? You are NOT supposed to be here. Ghilani offered the turple flower to which the woman hesitantly took. She seemed vaguely familiar to Ghilani. When asked what was wrong, the woman explained why she was crying and then continues:
They berate me every day. That Being of Blood. They will consum you too. Just as It did to my brother. Lost in the Void. Lost in the flow of the Hive... is there a difference?Ghilani reached for the vial with divine essence to show and prove to her that he can bring Judas back. He has the power. But as he goes to produce the vial, there is a sudden surge. There is blood in all. You are blood. You are more. She may not be enough, but you can choose to be more. Ghilani flexed his hand and began to shift, growing larger and larger until a draconic claw slammed into the ground near the woman. Is this what your mother wanted?
The silence of Moira's dreams were shattered by the drip of water. She held her breath – could it BE? Standing on top of the water was Caliban. Beyond him stood a massive tapestry with the continent interwoven with a chaotic mess of red thread. Amidst it, one set of thread stood out more brilliant then the rest beginning in Caliban, and going to the Wasteland and then to Oshiv'Ran, Varoona, Carmenthia, Caliban again. Caliban weaves the end of that thread into Elios and began pulling it south. When he turned to face Moira, gone was the fear and the pain, now replaced by gratitude, resolve, and... hope.
How long have they been hidden? She must be alive, to be continuously weaving with such vigor and resolve. If she is weaving a tapestry, I am inclined to allow her to. Still, perhaps it is also time for you to learn to see them. No Oracle has ever been perfect. Perhaps she intended for you to learn to weave them. Change the threads of fate if needed. Make a lethal strike diverted... by a twist of Fate.
Without hesitation, Moira took the offered needle. The red thread slipped free and wrapped around Moira's arm before dividing into multiple threads ballooning outward into a protective dome before vanishing. All around the space, Moira could see thousands of red threads drifting from the tapestry into the night sky, vanishing amidst the stars. Moira assured Caliban that they are closer than they ever have been. Caliban has faith in Moira. He then mentioned that there is still something amiss and as Caliban dissolved into strands of red... Moira noticed one of them disapear. No... it was devoured by The Void.
Rani felt sand beneath her feet and the warmth of the sun on her face... and saw the wall of miasma and haze only a foot away. Within it, the faintest hint of sand bled into red rock; a whole region obscured. The locusts swarmed and danced, either unaware or unbothered. Rani slowly reached a hand forward. It's odd... it feels both incredibly cold and otherworldly, yet warm and familiar at the same time. Before she could contemplate it any longer, there was a sudden flash of color. A pressure pulled her into a spin that transformed into the steps of a dance. The abstract presence begins to coalesce beofre Lark appears, grinning widely.

Ah! I remember the wedding! How joyous an occasion! I simply HAD to oversee the music! And now I see why the locusts went to you! A piece fo my brother lives in you! It is a small amount, but even the tiniest spark of inspiration... ...can cascade in massive waves and brush strokes!Rani asked if the tapestry then would be put in a place of honor within his Temple. Lark assured her that it would be. If my brother could hang up my terrible first works in the halls of his Temple, then... I can certainly do the same. Rani asked about Judas. Lark mused for a bit. Judas is the reason the Heart of the Desert is what it is. He was beloved of his people and his city was a marvel. Lark sighed, I do wish I could help you more. Rani assured him that he has always been with her. Well, I can certainly continue to do that! Turning to the swarm, he grinned: By Fate and by Fortune... now, perhaps, by a bit of Inspiration. And the God of Creativity dissolved into a multitude of colors.
Onward and Upward to the Temple
In the morning, Declan marvels at the now larger sword... (the metal one). Rani notes that it is quite girthy now. Moving through Sun's First Grace, Ghilani checked for any magical evidence that they were being spied on. While he didn't notice any scrying sensors or the like, word clearly has spread among the Elian people. Even those with multiple braids seem to pause and bow... to the Deep End. Ghilani, immediately upon noticing, bowed completely in turn. The courier services ensured Rani that they will get her letter to where it needs to go, though it may take over a day, unfortunately. They apologize, but they do have to fly AROUND the Wasteland!
The Deep End (trio + two T-posing) initially moved towards the Chieftain before deciding to try and find Rhovahk first. Should we check to see if he's feeling better? Moving up to Hunter's Gift, the trio find a new sight. Amidst the "early birds" of the community, Jhaxton and Rhovahk were cordially conversing in the middle. After a few moments, Jhaxton dipped his head slightly – a show of respect perhaps? – before he moved off to discuss other matters with other hunters. Rhovahk was about to jump off the platform and take flight when he noticed Declan awkwardly waving. Declan asked how Rhovahk was feeling to which the confused aarakocra responded that he didn't die in that fight and he has no horrible wounds... he's fine. Ghilani coughs and Rani sneezes. Declan presses. How are you feeling with the... you know. Rhovahk squints. Ghilani doesn't noticing any black snot. Rhovahk assured the group that he is FINE. He's off to the Temple. He'll spread the word of what the Deep End did to the High Priest. Rhovahk then fell backward off the edge before soaring up into the sky in the direction of the Temple.
The Deep End moved to speak with Chieftain Eonan. They found the chieftain wrangling four young aarakocra before she descended and settled onto her "chieftain perch". She expressed signifianct gratitude for both aiding her people and for managing to get Rhovahk and Jhaxton to... gasp, speak cordially? Impressive. Rani humbly requested that – given the dire circumstances – they receive a Fast Pass to the Temple of Elis. Chieftain Eonan remarked that the group has done a substantial amount for her people (especially as far as non-Elians go). She has already spoken with the High Priest and Rhovahk will reiterate her approval. Yes, you may ascend the mountain and visit the Temple of Elis.
As Rani continued to speak about miscellaneous matters (look at this map, isn't it neat; wouldn't you think it's nearly complete~), Declan began speaking to the Chieftain in her mind. Declan informed her that although he wishes they could help them further, they cannot interfere with the people who are stealling the Villám or their loved ones will be in dnager. However, he wanted to inform her that the people responsible are incredibly powerful and dangerous, and thus shouldn't be engaged in haste. When Declan mentioned getting the Council to intervene, Eonan scoffed. If the Council was going to do anything, Pekk would have gotten them to do it already. Eonan assured Declan that they have done plenty by her people. Further, she cannot move in haste. She will wait for her hunters to recover before driving them out in full. Now, if you want to get to the Temple today, you best get going!
The Deep End crossed a large oddly stable bridge to the edge of the chasm. As they drew closer, the mountain seemed to become steeper and more imposing. Incredibly narrow and steep stairs are still carved into the mountain side, though they seem to have fallen into disrepair at various points. PERFECT. Ghilani can start building his muscles! For the first bit of the trek, Ghilani charges forward (in the true image of Rayen). However, Declan had to step in and help a bit. Rani, meanwhile, has not difficulties scaling the wall, the swarm helping as needed. As the clouds become thicker, the wind builds. Rani, again, seemed completely unaffected by the gust of wind. Declan, now holding Ghilani, was able to brace himself and keep both of them stable on the thin ledge.
Passing through the final layer of thick cloud cover, the trio felt the vertical surface transition to flatter ground. Directly ahead, there stood the Temple of Elis, composed of two towers connected by an enchanted bridge adorned with a cascading "waterfall" of rainbow light. With the sun setting, the Deep End entered into the warm Chamber of the Sun where an Acolyte met them. She seemed genuine when she mentioned that the Deep End was a good name! It is better to dive deep into life than to go shallowly! The Acolyte guides them to their accomodations across the bridge. While there is no statue of Elis inside the Temple, there is a prominent statue of the Goddess in the middle of the bridge. The other tower features a Chamber of the Moon. After recalling that some members of the group cannot fly, the Acolyte led them up a set of stairs to a small arrangement of rooms. Oh, and we heard you prefer less privacy so the walls between rooms can be slid open! The group explained their immaculate concept of the "mega bed".
As Declan put a tired Ghilani down for a nap, Rani went back to the bridge. The space near the statue of Elis has been adorned with benches and perches. As Rani looks out towards Sun's First Grace and at the sunset, it's clear why Altan enjoys this spot. The sunset itself is beautiful ofer the snowy mountains of the Anwar-Dai... and when glancing down, there is a beautiful array of ethereal, sparkling light in all colors of the rainbow. Rani spent an hour relaxing in the space... and she was eventually joined by Altan. He is pleased to see she has made it here. Rani wonders why there aren't any paintings, though it would be hard to capture this space's beauty. Altan remarked that people cannot make excuses by seeing it in paintings. They must earn their way up to see it.
With a bit of concern on his face, Altan asked – since they seem familiar with Nina's "family and friends" – if something has happened? Is Nina alright? She is acting different. Rani provided a vague explanation that yes, something is happening and it isn't her place to say anything, but rest assured that Ghilani is doing everything in his power to fix the problem. Rani inquired as to how Nina was acting different? What is your relationship with her, if you don't mind? Altan responded that if you believe in the concept of soulmates, that he was he and Nina could be considered. He spends almost every waking moment with her. He can just tell when something is off. Plus, she has never lost feathers before. Rani remarked that if he waits in the right places, perhaps dark corners, he might overhear something. Altan grinned, but ultimately decided to ask Nina herself. Now, dinner?
When Ghilani awoke in the morning, he found himself face to face with Nina. Welcome to the Temple. How are you? Ghilani remarked that he worked on building muscles. And what is the strongest muscle of all? Ghilani slapped a hand over his chest: my HEART. Nina tilted her head. How is your heart? Is it whole? Is it damaged? Ghilani paused for a moment. He thinks that it might be a little torn down, but it's healing. You know how you build muscle? You break it down, tear it apart, and let it come back stronger. Nina then grinned and called: good luck in the Temple! Ghilani, forgetting that he only needs 4.5 hours of rest, immediately asked a half-awake Declan what Therarask things his best muscle is. When Declan doesn't give a response, Ghilani resorted to yelling at the sword for an answer. Rani casted Web on Ghilani's mouth, rolling back over to go back to sleep.
In the ACTUAL morning, the group noted a set of Acolytes, a Priestess, and Rhovahk depart the Temple, flying back towards Sun's First Grace. Shortly before the sun's zenith point, the Deep End arrived in the Chamber of the Sun. There, they spoke with High Priest Rhosstan Elis. Upon seeing them, he bowed deeply to which the Deep End immediately all bowed just, if not more, deeply. Rhosstan laughed, assuring them that they need not bow. Thank you. I have been told you have helped my people and, above all, you have helped my son. It pleases me. Rhosstan mentioned that Rhovahk has a nasty streak of pride. It is pleasant to see a slight shift in him. Is there anything they should know about the Temple? Rhosstan mentioned that Elis will treat them fairly. Do not worry, flight is not a requirement.
As the sun reached it's zenith, the central part of the Chamber was consumed by a warm amber beam of light. Moira noted that the High Priest seemed particularly drawn to the light, looking at it with an expression of awe and reverence with a hint of something more difficult to place. After a moment, he motioned for them to step forward. Treat them well, Lady Elis.

Lightning, Birds, and the Power of Friendship
After rain or storm, the sky brings forth a gift. A set of six, presented in order... if you can brave the storm.
The Deep End found themselves standing on a floating island of stone amidst a vast expanse of sky. A series of tiles rested before them with a doorframe on the opposite side. A clear glass orb sat in the middle of the grid. Ghilani stepped on a tile and got a jolt of electricity. Rani was able to resist getting pushed by a Gust of Wind when she stepped on a different tile. However, when she moved forward and stepped on another tile, the orb began to fill with red color. With brute force determination and some help from an illusory bird that kept offering questions, the group moved tile by tile. After touching the orb while filled with red, the color seemed to move to the doorway... but WHERE THE HELL IS ORANGE? Why have we NOT FOUND ANOTHER COLOR? Ghilani eventually stumbled upon the blue tile and eventually the yellow tile was found. Passing through a rainbow doorway, they were consumed by light.
A true hunter recognized that they need not go alone in the hunt. Choose your partner wisely. While all valiant hunters, there is prey that they prefer.
Glancing around the new floating island, there were five doorways (each decorated with a symbol) and five perches with five birds perched atop them. One of them appeared to be asleep. Moira approached the sleeping bird. Hey bud, how ya doing? Do you want to go hunting? The great owl lethargically hopped onto Moira. Calibird gave Moira a betrayed expression, but acquiesed. Ghilani approached the tiny Kestrel and asked if it wanted to go get some bugs. They went through another doorway. Declan figured he should go for the fox. It's the largest thing even he can't possibly miss spotting it. He and the eagle set off through another doorway. And Rani took the falcon through the doorway.
A true hunter can down their prey in a matter of seconds. The best need only one shot.Separated and alone with only their new hunting companions, the four found themselves in different areas. Rani and Declan immediately stealthed and hide while Ghilani sent the kestrel out for a distraction (it gave him the "ok" symbol with its feathers). Moira, had an alternatively approach. She stood proud and taunted... as the Dire Turkey noticed her. It charged, releasing a haunting warble that Moira was just able to shake off. It then bit down on her hard, though Moira absorbed the damage to deliver it right back. As the massive Dire Beetle lumbered around, distracted by the flying bird, Ghilani slid underneath it and attempted to Distengrate it... but it still was standing as it looked down at him. Rani asked where she should aim her strikes on the Dire Pigeon warbling nearby. The falcon motioned for the neck. With Vinaash in her main hand, she made two strikes, landing a critical strike and dowing her prey. Declan surged with wild magic and made everything vulnerable to slashing damage which helped as he landed a large strike into the Dire snowy fox. With a second swing, the critical strike felled the creature. Ghialni sighed. DAMMIT. Upcasting Disintegrate, he was able to destroy the creature right as Rani arrived to assist. Moira, staring down the turkey's throat, cast Guiding Bolt. Huh, that usually doesn't do thunder damage. The turkey collapsed and Declan gave Moira a thumbs up. A amber doorway appeared.
As there is one sun to warm all the continent, there is a sun for each and every one. Seek out that warmth and allow it to glow. The Deep End is temporarily stumped. Ghilani decides to light a fire. Declan wonders if he can walk to Therarask but finds to land on which to walk. Moira basked in the sun and Rani medidated. Eventually, Moira turned to the group and said your my sun, my light, my rock, and my red thread. She felt warm. Ghilani immediately began assembling a makeshift mega bed from the cushions and then declared that he will be big spoon because he's a man now. Moira flopped on top of the other three - Moira you're heavy with your armor on! I know! Rani and Declan both share their gratitude towards the others and everyone begins to fill with warmth.
Arriving at yet another floating island, there is a figure in the distance: an aarakocra woman with wings tipped in sunlight. Direclty in front, there was a table with boon stones on top, a feather, and a letter. Moira stepped forward and addressed the figure in the distance: to Caliban's other half and opposite. She then cut off her braid, wrapped her old holy symbol around it, and allowed Calibird to take the offering over to Elis. The Goddess stood, received the gift, and nodded. Rani signed thank you, to which the Goddess returned. Declan promised to return. As Rani took the boon stone... the map pulsed and so, too, did the journal.
Returning to the Temple of Elis, the High Priest welcomed them back. He hopes to see them return. Hopefully he will still be alive. The Deep End then went to find Nina. The small aarakocra clearly does not hide her affiliations. Blood lines the wall of her workshop. Ah, you have completed the Temple. Declan asked what Nina thinks of Primus. The blood witches get their powers from Primus, but they don't seem very devoted... is that not the way of the pantheon with The One? Did they not receive a gift from The One and then make it their own? On Primus... Nine asked Ghilani what he wanted. He wants to help people. You cannot help everyone. Why not? Nina thinks. If you want to help everyone, then you need power. You need influence and sway. Primus can give you that.
Ghilani mentioned the decision would upset people. When Tel'Rhea was mentioned, Nina offered a parallel. There is you and there is Tel'Rhea. There is Primus and there is The One. You are able to speak with Primus. You have the potential to seek answers and receive power. Tel'Rhea is alone and in the dark. Regardless of his decision, Nina assured Ghilani that she will not begrudge him for it. She is withering away, but she has lived a long life. Further, you can choose both. Nina motioned to Declan, he has done so. And so have I. Ghilani then asked: how? How does Elis feel about this? Nina explained that she is Elian, but 30 years was not enough for her. She sought to serve for longer. Her talents are considered a great gift to be given to Elis' greatest Hunters. Nina then gasped. Oh, my blood! She offered the vial to Ghilani.
Declan asked if Nina could remove the wrinkles. Certainly. After stabbing his face with blood-laced acupuncture... Declan feels the wrinkles fade. You got those 5 years back (at least in wrinkle coverage)! Can you bring people back from the See of Crimson Red? Nine explained that Ah'Shal houses the sea of souls. She, however, does not have a soul (Altan chokes in the background). Instead, she is returned to the sea of crimson red. The difficulty, however, is that while the Sea of Souls is tethered and bound to this world, the Sea of Crimson Red is... elsewhere. It would need to be tethered to this plane of existence in order for people to be drawn back from it. Primus would need to be tethered. Regardless, that is a better question for Primus. When asked how much time she has left, Nina estimated perhaps a week.
Rani asked how long Savant 3 went missing. Nine estimates around 800 years or so? Give or take 100 years. Time is a bit odd for her to estimate. She's alive, but very distance and hard to gauge. Nine promised to speak to Altan about what is happening. She just didn't want to have him treat her differently if her end is approaching. Rani then ducked out to find the High Priest.
High Priest Rhosstan still stares at the sun symbol in the Chamber of the Sun. Rani inquired about Elis' relationship with her antagonist. Rhosstan explained that they have very little interaction with her antagonist. It is more the concept of the harshness of winter and a complete lack of warmth. If one wants to believe that the antagonist is more than a concept of seasonal harshness, then they would obviously reside within the raging blizzard to the south. Generally, their stories are told to keep children from wandering too far before they are ready. There is a healthy and safe way to push your boundaries and horizons. Hunters, however, have fallen pray to what the people call the Wrath of Winter. There was one, Hornbeak, a talented hunter who left and never returned a few years back. He was perhaps Rhosstan's age when it happened.
Switching gears, Rani asked about how closed the borders were. if a group of people wanted to move through, would they be permitted? Rhosstan explained that they have no walls or patrols stationed to keep people out. They simply stopped formally offering guides and escorts through the often harsh mountains and ceased keeping the lodges in good condition. He would be happy to give his approval, though Chieftain Eonan would also have to approve. Provided that they behave as The Deep End has and are willing to earn a braid, Rhosstan doesn't believe it would be an issue. Rani mentioned that she thinks the continent is broken, but that it isn't beyond fixing. Rhosstan agrees.
Declan offered some support to Ghilani as he struggles with a decision that now seems to be rapidly approaching. Is it really Primus or Tel'Rhea? The Deep End descends the mountain, returning to Sun's First Grace.

Recalled Memories
Therarask: "I will admit that I am terrified of the Dread King. A piece of me died during that war. Perhaps died is a touch overdramatic. I sent a fragment of myself there... to fight. Entrusted it to someone dear. Not my Beloved, of course, but a favored of mine. Nearly as good a friend as Lucille... that charming, conniving bastard. He never returned. And a piece of me went with him."
Tel'Rhea: "I'm crying because my brother is dead. My brother, countless mothers and children, and... and my own daughter. How could I have forgotten what it did to her? To them? It took them. That horrible, vile, otherworldly thing. But... it is my fault, too. I sent her there. I wasn't enough. I coudn't DO enough. I couldn't BE enough. I am not The One. My daughter is never coming back... and neither is Judas."
Lark: "There was another reason I wanted to distance myself, perhaps, from these memories... I am the muse of many, but there are many mortals who often become my muse. There was one... you remind me of her. A child of the genasi, mind you... of primordial forces. She moved and danced as you do. She found the rhythm in combat and lived and thrived in it... I imagine she died to the beat of that same rhythm. And she took a bit of me with her."
Caliban: "I must admit that something is amiss. Dysis was not the only one who did not return to my Court. There were many who were lost. Andromeda, first Greatwyrm of the Stars, perished during the war. And... And Andromeda had a rider. She never returned either. A bit of me, I suspect... was lost with her, like a thread pulled out of the tapestry."
Questions of Elian Culture
The illusory bird offers questions in exchange for revealing a tile:- Name one of Elis' tenets – Ghilani declares that you must break your horizons!
- The great Elian hero Tuari gave what to whom? – Declan suggests bow and then Moira recalls: A BRAID! TO CALIBAN!
- Why do the Elian people earn their braids? – Rani responds: for the community and a token to the community (and also to honor Elis, obviously)
- Why is the Elian home called Sun's First Grace – it's the first place the sun touched? Technically... close enough.
- What are Villám shards? – Ghilani knows this one! The tears of Elis!
- Why is the Ceremonial Hunting Grounds sacred? – Rani wonders if it was the site where Elis' chosen killed a beast with one shot. Close enough.
- Have you grown? – Declan responds: yes I have! Did you see me at the start of all this?
One loves the moon from afar, one serves by light and blood, one ensures that nothing goes to waste, one takes in the lonely, one is enraptured by light, and one I love dearly and another my cherished son. Do you know my people? But they don't NEED to answer the last one... puzzle solved!
A Letter from Elis
I extend my warmest regards to you, children of Dremora. It is no easy feat to stand where you stand now. Do know that I have made a large exception by permitting you to be here. My people have seen their culture and lands disrespected and disregarded. I will not dishonor their – our – traditions more than is needed. Hence, do not expect more conversation of me. Though, I would be pleased to welcome you fully upon earning your 5th braid. In honor of my people and our culture. In exchange, I do offer a boon and a gift. A show of gratitude for your service and your respect to my people. I recall offering to seal a bit of that dark fragment here. As the Sun – an allseeing light – and Huntress, I had hoped to be the first to know of its return should it ever break free of its confines. With my companions, I would have struck a quick and vicious blow to bind it back. Yet, it seems I have forgotten that it was ever here in the first place... or that I agreed for it to be placed here. For aiding my people in their hour of need, I thank you. And above all, thank you for helping my son.
Another Journal Entry
Never before have I seen an item wrapped so delicately and securely. It makes my careful work of wrapping and protecting Matron Seven's swords look ike the work of a drunken woman. I will call them simply “The Scholars”, for they wished their identity to not be disclosed in any form. They hail from Eredet, where they have guarded a set of “artifacts” for many years – though only this one remained firmly in their possession. Per instructions from Grand Priest Ihyesult himself, this map was to be given only to one who inquired. Even if the instructions are over a thousand years old, I am still inclined to believe them. I was immediately drawn to it once it was revealed. As I held the parchment delicately in my hands... I was struck by such a strong conviction that this was pivotal. Important. Is this what I was missing earlier? Will this quest into both past and future be what binds us? What closes the chasm I feel that has opened between Judas and I? A chasm of my own making. Forgive my interlude of musing. The map itself is… old, and perhaps out of date, though I am no geographer. It is devoid of all features besides the continent outline and those of the regions. Within each region, there exists a single symbol: a religious symbol associated with the primary deity of that region. Most notably, a shimmering line surrounds the continent. I surmise this is the Barrier. – It took me far too long to pin down the god known to walk among his people. Upon my approach, it was there. That… different aura. I’m afraid I still fail to find a clearer way to describe it. Upon revealing the map…. That sensation faded. Judas was as excited as I had anticipated. He spoke in that almost childish exuberance I have grown to accustomed to. He claims The One created this! And how the Barrier shines! Judas tends to get headaches when he speak of the Barrier for too long… I have come to suspect that the toll in its creation may be the lingering source of such side effects. It is not normal, but also not unusual. He entrusted me with the map. As his hand brushed mine… his eyes… I don’t remember them ever affecting me so. Before I could do or say anything more, he was gone. Perhaps in time, I will unravel both the puzzle of this map… and this new puzzle of Judas. Dysis JudasHastily Scrawled in the Corner (and up the margins as well) is additional notes:
Does this map emphasize the journey or the end? That question is a plague on my mind. It has fallen out of common practice to undertake the trials of the various gods. I, however, felt it fitting to do so for Judas, as I was entering a new service and not raised amidst his tenets. A rite of passage or proof of my faith, so to speak… it was by chance that I had knocked the Fortune’s Boon onto the map… and then it changed. The region of Judas now lies illuminated before me. Perhaps I will speak with Soyolmaa. I am not fit for such travel, nor would I be allowed… but she has the skill, my faith, and my complete trust.
