Nabakkin
DnD: Drow
Descended from the native population of the Obari Desert, their time in Nijubari has altered their physiology quite notably compared to their ancient Fa'onem ancestors, to the point that they are now considered a distinct species. The few Nabakkin that live above ground are most commonly found across Iqari. Fewer still have made their way to other continents.
Basic Information
Anatomy
The Nabakkin retain the darker skin of their desert ancestry, though the pigment has gradually faded over centuries of life underground. Their eyesight in bright lighting has declined, while all of their other senses have heightened to adapt to their dark subterranean home. As such, their ears have gotten larger, and the tips of their noses have become more upturned with their nostrils changing to be more slit-like.
Note: Those Nabakkin who have stayed below ground for generations have more pronounced adaptations, while those few families that stayed above or have left the caverns in the interim more closely resemble their elven ancestors.
Civilization and Culture
History
The Nabakkin once founded and ruled the city of Atesh in the Obari Desert; their civilization was one of the oldest on Iqari. Eventually, they began expanding their lands, bringing them into conflict with the territorial Dragons which dotted the surrounding area. The dragons united against Atesh, and their backlash was fierce. The Nabakkin were forced to flee their capitol into the caverns below, reestablishing their civilization in Nijubari.
