Countess Anastasia vi McDougal Romanoff Windstrider (a.k.a. Anna)
Anastasia vi McDougal Romanoff Windstrider is the eldest daughter of Sigmars descendant that thrived in Vel. While the middle child of the "McDougal" Romanoffs, Anna as she prefers to be called, always looked to her families lost heritage and home land that was Albion. As per tradition she was allowed to travel across the sea to Albion, but found it to be as bad as she had heard. Having to hide her identity she was horrified to learn that the Inquisition already knew of her and were on the look out. luckily the Gargoyles were her main point of contact and she was hidden quickly. If not for that she would have been captured and forced to marry into one of the Inquisitions noble houses as little more than a royal slave to legitimize the family for a claim on the Albion throne.
It was during this time that she began acting as a Gargoyle agent, and if the other resistance members thought Anna would just be some fragile princess raised away from hardship. They quickly learned that Ulster nobility is nothing more than a title and one doesn't become a Knight Lord or grow up in the family of a Knight of Fiona and stay "soft". Anna had been stringently trained as a warrior and found the way of the assassin rouge most congruent to her life. She quickly found her self in charge of her own cell of the resistance and one of the head Gargoyles. It was here she met two particular fellow Gargoyles, Nyx Dragonfang of Sue and Dren Kahgen of Cohn. It was her friendship with Dren that would change her life, when a con exile came looking for Dren with disturbing news from his homeland. This exile was Hien Windstrider, and while their first meeting included the two nearly killing one another, and being backed into a near no win situation against a small Inquisition hit squad. The two found themselves enjoying each others company. That affection became a simmering romance that each felt they didn't deserve, however when the Follies were first used and Hien practically came running to check on her along aiding her in the defeat of the Ancient Dragon nesting in Roma she allowed herself to accept those feelings.
Unfortunately this brought its own complications, with the dragon dead the Romanoffs were recognized as the royal family again. With Anna being part of the group that fought and killed the dragon, Anna despite being a woman could make a legit claim for the throne. However when she accepted Hien's proposal of mirage after the dragon fight this created an issue. Hien, despite all his accomplishments, was still a half-elven bastard from a foreign country ruled by elves, a race that most common folk in Albion still didn't trust. That, along with him being the Emperor of Con's right hand, could be used against the Romanoffs by the Inquisition. Claiming that that while in exile they sold Albion to the elves for their own power, and unfortunately it was a well known fact that her elder brother had no intention of leaving Vel. Luckily for the Romanoff's she wasn't the last of her line.
