Kurnnoth Sea

Kurnnoth is the pocket sea found in central western Skortenia. It acts as an extension of the division caused by the Orikste Mountains.

Geography

Kurnnoth is characterized by the collection sea stacks lining the entrance to the Gulmyvillion Sea further to the west. Its northern coastline is hit by a colder current, creating rich fishing waters for the settlements found there. The southern coastline is far more barren. The mixture of a rain shadow formed by the Orikste, along with the same cooler current has caused the area to be comparatively dryer and uninhabitable. A collection of rivers in the north end in the Kurnnoth.

Fauna & Flora

The southern coast is largely barren, with the Kreenis Desert having little in the way of plants. The northern coast is comparatively fertile, with long forests, though the ground remains relatively infertile. Along the northern coast and towards the central locations are rich fishing water, owing to a cold current sweeping through. Flora
  • Coniferous pine trees along the north coast
  • Reefs in the west
Fauna
  • Schools of fish in the center and north
  • Seals on the small offshore islands
  • Birds of prey in the east
  • Sea birds along the northern coast
  • Dolphins through the southwest
  • Lobsters and crabs in the river mouths

Natural Resources

The main resource is found in the fish schools eating from the nutrient rich waters coming in from the Gulmyvillion Sea.

History

Kurnnoth has had little in the way of developments on the surface, though numerous have occurred underwater. An extensive group of sea elves, the Aleussi Concord live through the Thesekari Stacks toward the west and in underwater cities, having acted as safeguards ever since the great migration. In particular, during Fates End, a tribe of sahuagin from the Sahuagin Shallows flourished in the region, and wished to bring their influence through the rest of the western islands. Small groups of khoalinth live throughout most of the sea, too enraged by the elven presence to consider banding together, at least for most of the time.
