Ramuni

Ramuni is a human kingdom located in the Northeast Kasetia, near the Alsassenland and the Merchant Coast. The kingdom had undergone a number of name changes in its history, as the name for the kingdom frequently derives itself from the name of its ruling family - currently being House Ramuni.

Structure

Ramuni is a feudalistic society, functioning essentially as a kingdom, with a series of dukedoms and baronettes ruled by nobles from various families. The nature of this system leads to some internal strife regarding land rights and ownership. All land in Ramuni is ‘claimed’ by a noble, however, the claim really only pertains to areas that have some form of civilisation or society. More wild or barren areas are seen as lacking in potential for profit, providing few reasons to care about them.

Public Agenda

Further the goals of the families ruling over the land, while primarily furthering the agenda of the current house in power (Ramuni at this time).

History

After the Decline, the various tribal chieftains in Kasetias south pushed into the new habitable land, eventually developing into various dukedoms, baronies and some chiefdoms. The most prominent being group being the Ramuni, who eventually became known as House Ramuni.   The Ramuni family came to power through shrewd political negotiation, and occasionally outright warfare. House Ramuni married into house Vinca and Vereux via political strongarming, which marked their ascent to power in the region. Through further consolidation, they eventually gained control of the coastline, providing them valuable access to the Averum Republic across the Kset Strait.   Unrest is not uncommon in the more inhospitable areas of the kingdom, with the northern tribes often performing raids in defiance. These tribes were subjugated during the 8th century, with many inhabitants of the regions holding onto the pain those wars brought. During the goblin wars of the 11th century, King Helmat called on Chief Albetrix of the northern tribes for aid against the hobgoblin warlord Malboja. While the tribes accepted this responsibility, it was more out of a desire to protect their own home than aiding their masters.

Military

The Heirmarshell is the collectivisation of both the guard forces used in settlements and the wider army used for larger threats. During more pressing times of strife for Ramuni, conscription may be required to fill the ranks as required. More common is it for this to happen than it is to see the Heirmarshell leaving settlements without any form of law enforcement.
