Wolntare

A monarchy that has been more about its people than its land since it lost most of its traditional home over a thousand years ago to the Chealain Empire. So some of the oldest cultural practices on the continent take place in Wolntare as they cling to the last of their heritage. Currently, it remains one of the few safe places untouched by the horrors sweeping the rest of the world.
Wolntare

History

Wolntare, which can trace its history several hundred years before the Chealain Empire, was a collection of people living with the land when it was invaded and conquered by Cheala in 394. For the next 107 years it was under the rule of the Chealain Empire until the Destruction of 501 when the empire collapsed.   By this time much of the Wolntarean culture and way of life had been destroyed, changed, or forgotten. The people struggled to slowly put their way of life together again, though now forever mixed with Chealain culture. Then, when a new nation, Bakianna, rose to power in 716, the Wolntareans were again subjugated. But now the Wolntareans had something around which to gather, the idea of their own nation, dissent started.   When, after a sickness in 736-738 and the rebellion of the newly established Chean kingdom in 739, the dissent among the Wolntareans grew. By 744 they were beginning to gather in a southern region of Bakianna and in 748 war broke out.   In 750, Bakianna had nearly won the war when the Wolntareans formed an alliance with Bain Nard and the tides turned. The Wolntare nation gained freedom in 754 and by 764 was well established as a nation.   In 903 an expedition in the foothills of the Ranginye Range by the Reallkiy border discovered an underground fortress and, in the process, released an ancient demon. The demon proceeded to ravage Wolntare. With this, Bakianna looked to be preparing for an invasion into Wolntare when internal conflict in Bakianna caused the threat of invasion to fade.   The demon rampaged its way south into Bain Nard territory and disappeared into the Ranginye Range. Rumors still abound today as ghost stories to scare children that it is still alive, bidding its time for the right moment to attack and wipe out humanity.   Since the demon Wolntare has been a relatively stable nation, peaceful but watchful of its western and northern borders towards its less friendly neighbors, Bakianna and Innarea.
