Loose Ends

Breac Sunfist led an assault team on the heart of Dingaford, having just come into posession of intelligence from Tokmor. Members of Tokmor nobility had been found there using simulacrums as clones, and harvesting the lifeblood of their younger generation to enable those clones to host their conciousness as fresh, young bodies, effectively escaping death. Breac knew from previous attempts to kill Lord Jessep Bregan of Dingaford that he was both a Vampire and a Lich, but this seemed to be the missing, third layer of defence he had against death.

The guild found Dingaford surrounded by a deep but narrow trench, along the bottom ran a stream of an odd black liquid. They ascended the narrow pass and cautiously entered a trapped hallway. They gradually explored the ground floor of the mansion, finding a crab-clawed demon trying to read a book, a carnivorous plant, and an animated suit of armor. They were assailed the entire way by Lord Jessep Bregan who would strike at them several times before dissipating into mist to regenerate.

On finding and destroying two of the simulacrum doubles, the party proceeded upstairs to the bedrooms and library. There they found in the library The origin of the Grand Tribes of the North, The Last Will and Testament of Lord William Bregan of Dingaford, and other assorted books and potions. They found the last simulacrum in Claire Bregan's bedroom.

On finding Jessep in a desecrated chapel, they engaged him and destroyed his physical form. Jessep began to reform at his phylactory - only to find out to his horror the object he was using, the green Ionic Focusing Iris, had been found by the guild six weeks ago and was now powering a laser carving out stone ornaments on Mt Rhillaine. Now turned into a laser battery, Jessep is presumably unable to regain a physical form (at least so long as the laser continues being used).

Breac made one last stop at the theatre at the back of the mansion. He handed a sack to TheGirl, walked into the centre of the theatre, and tried to resurrect someone. On finding his spell failed, he seemed relieved, took the sack back, and led his agents back south.
