Tokmor

Tokmor - the Firestone Fortress, the Everdawn, the Big Cheese. The capital of the Starfall States is known by many names, not all of them affectionate. Love it or hate it, there is no avoiding it if you are trying to do any kind of business in the area. Tokmor is the dense, highly industrialised beating heart of the east, and the second largest city in the world.

While Eal can lay claim to being a larger city by surface area and by population, there is no debating that Tokmor is the most productive city Elanora has ever known. It is built within a forest of the massive hardwood selt trees. It began its history 500 years ago as a dedicated treetop city of elven design. Today, while the selt trees are carefully nurtured and maintained as the foundation of many of the city buildings, the trees are barely glimpsed between the stonework that has grown around them. Key to Tokmor's success is the sacred Firestone mined from Starfall Crater. This stone stores energy from the sun and releases it through the nighttime hours. This allows weavers and smiths in Tokmor to function around the clock, with off-shifts taking refuge from the relentless light within hollows of the tree trunks to rest.

While Tokmor is most known for its relentless industry, particularly of fabrics and paper, it also harvests oils, nuts and grains from other plants that form symbiotic relationships with both the selt trees and the Firestone that now encases them. Tokmor coffee in particular is much sought after as a luxury item throughout the western kingdoms. Tokmor merchants prefer to trade by skyship due to the difficulty of traversing the Crater by either land or water vessel, and three great mooring platforms in the centre of the city are still currently the tallest buildings in the world - slightly taller than the palace in Eal.

The elite of the city are known as Sunbloods. Notable locations include the lower depths (where only Sunbloods and their most trusted servants are permitted), the heavy industry of Sublevel C, and the nightclub known as The Black Hole. It is now known that Tokmorites extend their lifespan by preying on the lifeforce of other creatures - the lower castes rely on wildlife, while the Sunbloods take the lives of their fellow citizens. A rebellion is forming against this tyranny under Councillor Teelak.
