Dinga Hills
This is a lengthy range of mountains, 'hills' only in comparison to the nearby Pizol Ranges, that is notorious for its dead-end canyons, razor-sharp ridges and peaks, sheer cliffs and other navigational hazards. To add to the challenge of traversing them, an ancient empire mined out most of the resources here a thousand years ago or more, creating vast underground networks of abandoned mining complexes that can collapse without warning.
The climate is mostly arid towards the south, with some of the higher peaks collecting snow and rain, and the rocky soil is frequently tainted with some poisonous mineral that makes plant life scarce. Despite this, there is enough game feasting on the tough mountain scrubs to support a small population of wyverns and brass dragons. The north receives more rainfall - some heavy woodlands in the back of remote canyons have been left untouched for eons. There is no telling what explorers may face if they venture within.
The only merchants who tend to venture through the Dinga Hills are those of the Starfall States. Tokmor airships frequently sail over the hills to and from Tanquary Bay, enjoying the sights of the rough terrain below from a safe height.
