Tanquary Bay

Technically this is a lake, not a bay, but the lake is large enough to be named differently by the locals on the north and southern shores. Tanquary is the northern half of the lake, Skenar is the southern half.

Tanquary Bay is the name of this large inlet and of the port city on its shores. The city is an important stopover for sea trade to and from the western oceans headed south or east, as rivers feeding Lake Skenar and Lake Tanquary are significantly shallower than the west outlet, so most ocean-capable vessels stop here if not earlier to offload their goods.

Because the free folk of the rest of Elanora generally refuse to do business with slavers and others with cruel, outlandish ways, Tanquary Bay is also an important point of exchange between the south and north. Food, weapons and tools come north from Eal from less squeemish merchants, and get traded for raw materials from Pizol and Braeland, with merchants on both sides maintaining plausable deniability as to the source or destination of their wares.

A large skyship tower unloads wares from Tokmor here to link the east with the traditional river trade of the Empire and Braeland. This is the only surviving tower outside Tokmor large enough to support the great sky-barges of the Starfall States, further guarenteeing Tanquary Bay's dominance as the trade center of Elanora.
