Aquatic Half-Elf
A very rare breed of half-elf, the aquatic half-elves are a race stuck between the land and the sea. They feel uncomfortable far inland unlike their human parents, but cannot survive underwater for long unlike their elvish parents. As such they are never fully accepted into either family, save for humans living very close to the ocean’s edge already. As such, these elves are almost always born a human mother and elf father.
These half-elves inherit the coloration of their elvish parent’s skin. As these elves most commonly come from the coral elves of shallower water, the skin of these half-elves is commonly brightly colored and vibrant. They also often have similar tendencies, having the chaotic impulses of the coral elves.
These folk excel as fishermen and sailors, being intimately connected to the sea and able to read it like an open book. However, many of these half-elves feel wrong being fishers for larger cities, preferring only to take what they need to feed themselves, their family, and their close friends.
Aquatic half-elves favor clothing that is light and will not impede them while they are swimming.
Their webbed fingers and toes allow them to propel themselves through the water well, but make gloves and many shoes very uncomfortable for them to wear. Alternatively, many find long cloaks to be preferable, as they can be easily removed before diving into the water. They often enjoy having vibrant colored clothing to match their coral skin, but some prefer less extreme colors as a way to help blend in better.
Aquatic half-elves are common on island-dwelling areas compared to elsewhere, but even then they have relatively low numbers. On these islands they often work as intermediaries between their two parent races. They otherwise find work gathering food or making boats, both of which they are highly proficient in.

Because of their acute senses, half-elves are quick to spot concealed doors and hidden entranceways. Merely passing within 10’ of a concealed door allows a half-elf a one-in-six chance (1 on 1d6) to notice it. If actively searching, a half-elf’s chances improve to a two-in-six chance (1-2 on 1d6) to find secret doors, and a three-in-six chance (1-3 on 1d6) to notice a concealed door.
Half-Aquatic elves can breathe in water for a short time, being able to survive underwater in salt water for up to a day at a time before needing to resurface for at least a day.
