High Elf
High elves are the original elvish bloodlines that were created on Elaris. Originally created by the deity Eredhan, these elves have lasted through millenia, honing their skills of magic and martial arts equally. Over that time, sects of them have spread out, seeking to further one side or the other of their skills, with those more skilled at magic becoming sun elves, and those more skilled at martial arts—especially swordplay—becoming known as moon elves. Those that stayed true to the original teachings of Eredhdan became the star elves.
The sun elves have skin of a soft golden color and hair that ranges between red, light brown, and blond. Masters of magic, the sun elves tend to be mages of high esteem, known throughout their homelands as miracle workers. It is due to the sun elves that the rumors of elven magic being stronger than that of other races is so everpresent. While their magic is not actually stronger than other races, sun elves do make some of the best use of their magic, even being able to combine their efforts together to create stronger than average spells. Unfortunately for them, this requires numerous elves working in tandem over long periods of time and is known as elven high magic—something not necessarily useful in combat, but otherwise unique to the sun elves. Despite this, the dark elves, those descended from the sun elves in an attempt to grow stronger in magic, have lost the gift of this high magic.
The moon elves are masters of blade and bow, and are the defenders of high elven territories when the sun elves’ protective spells fail. With skin a pale silvery color and hair often matching their skin, their name is well earned. They are also known as Silver Elves, but many find this deragatory and rude. They believe there is no better path forward than to fully devote one’s self to their work, growing stronger in every way.
The last type of high elves are the most true to their original people, the star elves. These elves have fair skin, similar to that of the Cetandari humans, but their eyes betray their true lineage. Star elves’ eyes are entirely black, and small lights twinkle within them constantly like the stars in a night sky. These elves blend together magic and martial arts, and are famed for creating the bladesinger fighting style.
High elves by far hold the most powerful of the elvish societies, which is in no way lessened by their capitol which rests aloft in the air, held by ancient high magic on massive floating islands. At the center of their capitol stands the most long-living tree on Elaris, known to them as the Tree of Life. This tree is jealously and violently guarded against those who would otherwise do it harm.
The high elves have few true enemies, though many that they would not consider friends. Among their enemies however, orcs are by far the most hated of their foes. This is due to the orcish gods, who had in the past fought directly against the elvish pantheon. The two races have never been able to come to a peaceful settlement between them, always ending up fighting things out instead.
