Session 2.20
General Summary
Having emerged from the depths of the Sea of Bourne the party heads to the seaside town of Omrith to plan the next steps of their journey with the Baricon Ore in hand. Fannti had given it a look, and confirmed that it was the Ore that he had tucked away around the lighthouse area a year prior. After distributing the items and valuables that were retrieved from the treasury, the group had decided to make the trek back to the Amethyst Isle and bring the Baricon Ore back for safekeeping. Before they could begin their journey back the Water’s Edge Tavern was visited by some Federation Knights who was said to have tracked the party to this location. Sorgen, the Tavern owner, was able to distract the knights long enough for the group to hide either through invisibility to escape to the roof.
As they gave up the search in the Tavern, the Federation trackers set up a patrol around the town. To elude the knights, the group decided to split which ultimately worked, but not before a few hiccups almost compromised the escape. However, everyone eventually reached the rendezvous point at the edge of town, but now was facing a new problem. The group, hoping to see Captain Waters and the River Sloth, shortly found that she was not there anymore. However, shortly thereafter saw a small orange merchant vessel headed South from the Sea of Bourne to the Mongave.
Rhorn had identified the ship as a merchant class vessel, that his logging company had supplied lumber for the entrepreneurs requesting its construction. From shore, Fannti had attracted the attention of the captain of the ship and posed as consumers looking for goods. Once on board, the party appealed to the captain’s enterprising spirit and offered gold and connections, and a chance to establish trade in the Amethyst Isle.
The trip was proceeding rather uneventfully, but took a turn around the 5th night of the trip. Just after passing the river town of Omrith, and approaching the third island of The Crumbs, Priestess Luna noticed something on the shore. There were ten small in stature hooded figures that appear to be chanting. Deciding to investigate, the party deboarded the ship, and were surprised to find that the figures were actually the ten children conducting a ritual to return home. The party was able to once again save the children, but came to the stark realization that the Book of Woe is having continuing lasting effects despite it now being in “safer” hands.
Continuing on, Rhorn was visited in the night while on board the ship, by the captain’s beautiful daughter, Talia. After rejecting her advances, the trip proceeded a little more awkwardly. A few days later just before reaching the river mouth just before the drop off point, the ship hit some rapids, followed by a mysteriously dense fog that the captain was able to cautiously navigate, but after an hour, the fog clears out, but instead of being on the river, you find yourself in open waters.
