Session 2.22
General Summary
Upon arriving back at the Amethyst Isle with the Baricon Ore and Book of Woe in hand, the party debriefed Jeeves on all the events of the past month and a half, and held a town hall meeting where they were inundated with different requests and concerns from the citizens including the division of land, request for tools needed to carry out the different jobs around the city, and a demand for a formal leadership structure just to name a few. The party did an admirable job addressing the issues that were in their immediate control and had tabled others that might require more than the current capabilities of the leadership.
The following day, after an adequate night’s rest the group got themselves reacquainted with the keep. First as Priestess Luna was wandering about she discovered a map/floor plan of the grounds, and upon its revelation moved to check the accuracy of the map with the actual layout of the keep. Meanwhile, Rhorn headed to town to spend some time with his family and learn more about the city. Back in the keep, Fannti got started with the day to day minutia of being a noble of a kingdom. Zhorn had a later start to the day, but met with Garewing to finish repairs on the Grand Ballroom door as they waited for the others to reconvene prior to heading out into the forest to investigate the elf sighting Garewing and his hunting expedition had experienced.
On the third floor of the keep, outside in the aviary, Priestess had received two messages addressed to the group. One was from the Merchant’s Guild - Platinum Patrons, requesting your presence stating the party had interfered with the business of one of their guild members, Chairman Cole Sm’ores by poaching about half of his work force to the Amethyst Isle thus cutting his company’s production in half. The other message was much friendlier in tone as the Leader of Jobrun, Archsage Amadeus Pendergast, had requested an audience with the group either before or after the Summit of Nations.
Rhorn in the attempt to spend more time with the family, came to the realization that life was continuing on. With Dexter in school, Abigail provided a tour of the city where she reiterated the magnitude of the entire undertaking. The tour was cut short by Fannti who had come to retrieve his ally to head to the forest and begin investigations into the Elves.
Garewing took the four party members into the newly named Rhorntree Forest and to a creek where Garewing had said he had seen the elf. However, after a cursory investigation, there was nothing that immediately stood out. However, the party did not give up. Upon the realization that they were being watched. Rhorn and Zhorn insisted that the party was good, and luckily the wood elves believed in the message as they showed themselves from their camouflaged state and escorted the party back to their village amongst the trees deeper in the forest. In good faith Fannti gifted the chief with an emerald, as representatives of the city. The offering was satisfactory enough to get him to start talking.
First the elven chief said that the presence of people in the abandoned city has attracted the attention of his people as well as the Drow who were said to be in control of the subterranean levels of the island. The chief explained that as long as the Drow resided there, his people as well as the new inhabitants of the city would not be safe. In exchange for the group being able to end the conflict he would guarantee safety of the people of the city from the creatures of the forest and as well as the drow, tools to harvest the trees of the forest, and furthermore a portion of the forest for personal use to assist with the rebuilding of the city.
At the conclusion of the diplomatic exchange, the party returned to the keep where they interviewed three candidates for Mayor, the practical and numbers oriented halfling Winslow Isenbold, the very charismatic people oriented elf, Lawrence Stardew, and Abigail Woodcutter a perfect middle ground of the two candidate, but lacked the qualifications of a mayor. With the interviews coming to a close the group had decided that instead of a mayoral structure to the governance of the city, they had chosen a more representative council in which each of the three candidates had a specific, but essential function, and they all reported to the four stewards.
