Session 2.23

General Summary

The party continues to address the domestic issues of their new city, most recently having met with the wood elves led by Lord Luthien (Treestrider) in the Rhorn Tree Forest as well as establishing a council structure government for the city. In order to forge an alliance with the wood elves the party would have to either force out or convince the drow to vacate the island entirely. Having heard the Elven request for an alliance, the group headed back to the keep where they prioritized trying to find more information on the conflict between the wood elves in the drow by searching the library, inquiring amongst the earliest residents of the island, and questioning Jeeves. However, after trying to gather the information through these different channels it soon became apparent that the elves have mostly kept to themselves and that the only person that would have knowledge of the inhabitants of the Island is Lord Asos who is scheduled to arrive within the week.   After a busy day and night, the group decided to retire for the night, but only received an abbreviated rest due to early morning visitors who Jeeves said were waiting in the Audience Chamber. Upon arriving at the chamber the Fannti, Priestess Luna, and Zhorn, were greeted by five figures in dark robes with armor beneath. These guests introduced themselves as a delegation of Drow from the Underdark led by Lord Maxime Claremont. The subterranean elves also offered an alliance in return for ousting the leadership of the wood elves for having kept them confined to their subterranean prison.   Inquiring about a more diplomatic solution to end the conflict, Lord Claremont mentioned the Terra Trial. A 1v1 duel to the death where the victor claims his reward, but also honors the request of his opponent(as a dying wish). The conversation concluded with Lord Maxime Claremont providing the party with a three day allowance before he and his forces would strike the wood elves. Later in the day the party held a town hall meeting in which the group informed the citizens of the new leaders as well the form of leadership the government would be incorporating. This news appeared well received by the citizens. Also for the citizens safety Fannti warned everyone to stay away from the forest and caves until the situation with the elves has been resolved.   Concluding the day’s events the group returned to the keep where there were two messages waiting for them. The first was from Galt Horizonwalker stating that he was safe, and had tracked the group which did have his professor to the Southereastern reaches of the Forest of Secrets just south of his college. He notified the party that he was working on a gambit to free his professor and hopefully others. The second was from your friend Mayor Goldemane who notified the group of an influx of people coming to Labrie looking for passage to your island. It concluded with the Leonin mayor gifting Goggles of Night.   Priestess Luna, with a new found divine ability to contact people over great distances, spared no time in reaching out to both Lord Asos and Lady Sophira for assistance with the elven predicament. In response, Lord Asos responded by saying that he was going to arrive the following night, and Lady Sophira stated that she would unfortunately not arrive in time to assist, and that she had her hands full cleaning up the group’s “mess”.   The following day the group decided to meet back with Lord Luthien and share the Drow’s wishes, to which the forest lord was skeptical of Lord Claremont’s intent. After seeing that a parlay was not an option the party headed back to the keep and awaited Lord Asos return. When he did arrive, Lord Asos said he was proud of the party’s progress thus far. He then confirmed that he knew that there was no volcanic eruption, it was just what he told his people to escape the oncoming violence between both elven factions, and word spread. Lord Asos said it was his mistake in not picking a side because now the party is paying the price of his soft heart. He advised picking a side to put an end to the conflict. Next he emphasized the importance of the Summit of Nations and gave a very brief rundown of the procedures and what to expect from this important meeting. Finally he stated that the Book of Woe was ancient and primordial in origin, but curiously, something prevented him from disclosing more information. He suggested the group seek out Archsage Amadaeus Pendergast or High Priestess Genevieve Lloras, both of whom were going to be present at the Summit. As he left he preached patience as he continued his errands, but did say he was going to be back for a more extended period at the end of the year.   The night concluded with Rhorn returning to the city to spend the night with his family, Zhorn heading to bed, Fannti locking up the Book of Woe in the catacombs, and Priestess Luna attempting to reach out to more people. First he reached out to Simon who states he was being well cared for by the orcs and he was with Erne, and then Blythe who states she was someplace cold and was ok, but couldn’t say the same for Mayor Ashford. Right after sending and receiving those messages, Priestess Luna found herself surrounded by four cloaked figures with short swords drawn all alone on the second floor terrace of the keep.
