Andreas Apolostolos
Count Andreas Apolostolos
Andreas Apolostolos was the sixth child after a series of daughters to his parents. He was the least likely of the entire family to ever inherit or claim any of the wealth or stature that his mother or sisters would have. To that end, he was left alone for most of his childhood to roam the streets of Xiros and the surrounding farmlands. Without much need for any sort of supervision, he became close friends with those of much lower social class, leading to his ever further ostracization from his family.
As a teenager, he took an interest in serving with the family levies, but was excluded. He was encouraged by some friends to join the Alsonan Rangers, an adventuring organization with much to offer. He was taken under the wing of a skilled fighter, and soon learned the art of fighting with a shield and spear far better than any those he had traveled with. His adventures with the Rangers were not much to speak of, as he spent most of his time in adventures pursuing bounties upon the Ravager Plains or in the Apps Mountains. It seemed unlikely he would ever return home again.
The outbreak of the Wingo War changed everything. Although he was deep in the mountains when Andreas heard of the fighting, he believed, like many others, that the uprising would be quickly crushed and affairs would return to business as usual. The unprecedented success of the dwarves and elves against Alsona shocked him, but did not truly strike home until he heard of the destruction of Xiros by raiders. Andreas returned home only to find his parents dead, and his sisters slain the battles against the invaders. With nothing remaining of his childhood home, he enlisted in the newly formed Royal Alsonan Army, and rose to decent rank, thanks to his years of experience as an adventurer.
Although his leadership was mediocre at best, Andreas' noble title assured him a rapid rise and new influence. This was cemented when he saved the Queen's life during a minor skirmish on the banks of the Efcharistos River. He stayed in the army until the war's conclusion, and thanks to the support of the Queen, he was able to claim his family's lands and what little other assets remained. He returned to Xiros and with the help of some friends, began to rebuild his home and those of the people of the town. He has continued to quietly excel as one of the few male counts in Alsona, supporting the monarchy and attempting to restore his family fortune.
