House Gutfreund
House Gutfreund is one of the most prosperous families and aristocratic powers in the Kingdom of Columba. Having been instrumental in the success of the rebellion against the Jakonian Empire, they were rewarded for their service with the task of building a harbor city worthy of an independent state, being granted control of the towns of Steinhatch and Suwannee. From these positions they have grown into increasing prosperity, and now field some of the largest levies and largest treasury of the Columban nobility. They are known to be steadfast supporters of the crown and everything that entails.
Public Agenda
House Gutfreund is an exception among Columban noble houses, advocating for the power and position of the king. This is predominantly due to their close ties to the Royal Columban Navy, and the leaders of the house call often for increased taxes and sponsorship of the centralized fleet. They argue most prominently that the defense of the nation's shipping is paramount, and that all efforts must be made to protect the seas from Imperial and piratical dominion.
Assets
The territories of House Gutfreund consist predominantly of the southern Waldküste, containing the settlements of Suwannee and Steinhatch. From these rather prosperous communities, they are able to draw up twelve levied regiments, and are the only house in Columba to maintain their own warship and support vessels for naval operations. They also possess a deep treasury, having a stranglehold on all trade through the nation's busiest shipping port. The wealth of Suwannee has continue to sponsor the house's growth, as they reinvest their profits into the betterment of all who live under their reign.
