House Hass
House Hass is one of the regionally powerful lords of the Kingdom of Columba. Reigning over the town of Weekiburg and the forests surrounding it, they lack the power or influence of other houses, and typically play a supporting role in the Adalsrat. They are best known for their disdain towards the practices of the Church of the One Sun and their affiliates, courting heresy by their support and protection of the woman known as the Oracle. Rumors claim that the Oracle is actually a disowned or disinherited member of House Hass, but these have never been confirmed to the public.
Public Agenda
House Hass has very publicly taken a stance of the separation of the Church from the apparatus of the government of Columba. They have resisted the Church's influence heavily and believe that the Monastic Brotherhood has no place in launching military operations from Columban soil. They also have constantly opposed the increase of the presence of the Fellowship of the Palm in Columba, believing them to simply be spies in the employ of the Empire. They also publicly preach for tolerance of followers of Keshush and the saints, but stop short of advocating for the rights of pagans.
Assets
House Hass rules a mostly rural region and most of its income comes from taxing travelers along the coast road and through the verdant interior of the Waldküste. These efforts have not been as lucrative as they once were, and therefore, the House has been able to provide less and less in the way of support for the nation. They can only employ four full levied regiments, along with the rather minute militia of Weekiburg and the surrounding, much smaller hamlets. They are by no means poor, but are certainly not among the wealthiest of aristocrats in Columba.
