Monica Tenorio was born to a minor aristocratic family in the eastern part of the Kingdom of Orrland. Raised with a traditional One Sun upbringing, she was expected from a young age to find a worthy husband to assist her house's growth and expansion. She was given every tutelage and means needed for becoming a well educated member of the upper class, and spent ample time in Universo, learning the family's businesses and making the connections among other female members of the aristocracy. It was in Universo at the age of nineteen when she met Lukas Gutfreund in one of the city's casinos.
The two of them hit it off immediately, becoming fast friends. Monica's family was ecstatic, as the Gutfreunds were one of the rising and richest houses in the Kingdom of Columba. Despite rumors of scandal and other flings with local women, Lukas accepted the proposal of marriage and unity between the two families. After a year of preparation a marriage was held in Suwannee. Monica became pregnant fairly quickly, and the two began building their family, but tensions were typically high between the two. The collapse of her family's holdings in Orrland led to Monica becoming ever more reliant upon her husband.
Over the past several decades, as her children have left the household and pursued their own destines, Monica has become closer and closer with the Church of the One Sun. As of eleven years ago, she began the rites to become a practicing member of the clergy. Although as a woman she has not been welcomed into the higher echelons of the Church, her noble birth has given her some advancement and training. She has volunteered her aid as a healer and helper in Suwannee's slums, and has become a popular figure among the lower classes.
