Localized Phenomena
Along the coastline to the south a not all that rare sight is watching The Giant Squid hunting prey, a terrifying thought to the sailors who frequent these waters. The Sailors here have quickly become adept at avoiding these beasts or opting to take a longer route. The alternative is death so it's an easy option.
Throughout the forest as well there are a number of places with a strong connection to the fey realm, and it is not uncommon to spot a few of their kind in the forest. The locals have become either tenuous allies with them or choose to avoid and supplicate, in either case there is still a healthy dose of trepidation and respect.
This forest is also one of the only places you can find Treants. Although the tend to prefer solitude many of the elf tribes work in harmony with them.

Natural Resources
Taur-na-Chardhîn is home to nearly every type of tree in the world and every magical wood, however finding and obtaining them are a different story. In the southern parts of the woods there are also mysterious veins of crystals and topaz, but the locals tend to stay away and avoid mining them.
In a few of the fishing oriented tribes they've become adept at making squid dishes, due to the large size of the local population, and using their skin and other parts for all manner of things.
