The War of Opinion
There was a long standing disagreement between the Kingdom of Fandaniel and the Mitfordian Confederacy regarding the theological structure of Eucitas.
The leaders of Mitfordia believed that the Holy See of Lumia had grown too powerful and prominent, overshadowing the other Speakers of Eucitas. They believed that the Speakers should form a unified theological organization where all have equal power and influence. However, the Kingdom of Fandaniel was founded on the tenant that they would protect the Light and its Holy See at all costs, acting as its sword and shield should anyone draw aggression towards it.
In 1972 24C, King Camden Piavir was touring towns in southern Fandelian Parishes close to Mitforida's border. Mitfordia suddenly attacked and the King was killed, leaving the young Prince Liam Piavir - the King's only son and heir - crowned as the new King of Fandaniel at the age of 9.
With Fandaniel in disarray, Mitfordia saw this opportunity to take advantage of the inexperienced king and declared war. Their goal was to wipe out the Kingdom of Fandaniel in hopes the Holy See of Lumia would surrender and concede to Mitofordia’s ideals of religious equality.
As the Mitfordian army advanced through the central Fandelian Parishes, they sewed ruin to many Minotaur tribes and raided their settlements. This resulted in the remaining tribes uniting and allying with the Kingdom of Fandaniel against a mutual enemy. However, by the end of the war the Minotaur race was decimated due to overuse of their legions in combat.
Though the Holy See was at the center of the conflict, they did not mobilize their Paladin warriors until 5 years after the war started.
The war waged for 13 years, Mitfordia was ultimately defeated. In the years following the way, conspiracy theories around Sagir, the Speaker of Shadow, had some involvement in instigating the war due to his suspicious disappearance at it's height.
