Long before the Elves came to Endunia, they existed in the Feywild as some of the least of the fey. While still technically immortal, the Elves were subject to the chaotic whims of the various Archfey, with their forms changing frequently and drastically, sometimes having their souls merged with others in one physical form, and sometimes having their consciousnesses trapped in inanimate objects, such as stones or a pile of dead leaves. While most fey reveled in what they saw as endless excitement from constant surprises, others desired more permanent forms and purposes. Some of the Seelie Fey, the so-called “Good Fey, took pity on their followers and granted them the humanoid forms now recognized as the Eladrin Elves of the Feywild. The Unseelie Fey, the “Evil Fey,” were insulted that some of their playthings were taken away and cursed the Elves, taking away their immortality and cursing them with what the Archfey believed were shortened lives, “only” living millenia. Over time, various heroes of the Elves grew in power and wisdom, eventually ascending to status equal to, or perhaps even more powerful than, the Archfey. These heroes wished to establish a place of their own, wishing independence from the fickle Archfey. They heeded the call of the Trembling Giant, and crossed the planes to Endunia, with their followers to Endunia, and became true gods. The Elves that stayed in the Feywild stayed as Eladrin, those that came to the Mortal Plane became the High Elves, the Wood Elves and the Drow.
