Origins
Born in Windcape - Ison, a relatively small port town, Vepdor Kaysuteii (Ihana for "Raventaker") rarely had a chance to explore, with the cold temperatures during the winter, as well as the fact that the passageways to the south were blocked by the Fractured Highlands; and empty oceans covered the north. In his village, he was shunned for his appearance, the lower part of his face said to be "demonic" to the residents. Windcape bordered the communities of Magí Angels and Demons, which the humans distrusted. Once he was 21 (14 Earth years), with the help of his parents - who were experts in travel due to their profession as sailors - taught him the necessary skills to survive in the wilderness, as well as basic techniques to ward off those who would harm him. He planned out his journey, going around the Fractured Highlands to the west, where the rest of Ithon awaited him, and a whole new world that he could explore past the barrier of the mountains.Adventure Awaits
Equipped with basic supplies and a spear, and and heirloom inherited from his parents, he began his trek south. He would circle around the ice spikes found further west in Thalor, then venture into Silverthorn, a lush green forest blossoming with fauna and flora alike. Compared to the cold, windswept shore he spent his early life on, it was a whole new experience for him to behold. From the north of Silverthorn, Vepdor caught a glance of a ginormous tree further down south, which he would use as a waypoint for his path. Apart from the creeks and rivers running through the trees making it difficult for him to navigate through, as well as the carnivorous beasts lurking within the forests, he had a relatively easy time for the earlier part of his journey. The main concern to him was the dwindling supplies. He had underestimated the time he would need to spend in order to get to the next town, and the local fauna wasn't exactly nutritious. Vepdor picked up his pace. Fortunately, he spotted some sort of settlement in the woods, and made his way toward it.Allisa, the Wood Elf
The settlement's architectural style differed from the images he had seen in the navigation journals his parents kept. The camp turned out to be an expedition group from Silverwood. The people there spoke Ihana, which made it easy for him to communicate with them. He would ask around for assistance with his journey, whether in the ways of supplies, knowledge, or a companion. A Wood Elf, known as Allisa Mournleaf, would decide to accompany him on his journey, as she was intending to make her way towards the Tree of Virtue - the landmark Vepdor had used in order to find his way south - so that she could find a cure for her affliction. Being rather energetic, she was a good help to Vepdor's journey. They would go further south towards the Tree.By Noboroth, 1520, they had reached the Tree of Virtue, marking the near-halfway point of their journey. Allisa discovered that the Tree did lessen the effect of the affliction when she felt more relaxed while nearby, but it was extremely difficult to extract the sap out of it, or use it as incense smoke, due to the near-impervious wood, which had survived an invasion several hundred years ago. Disappointed, but not discouraged, Allisa decided to follow Vepdor as a party member, becoming good friends as a result of the journey toward the south.
Aki, the Nekum
After making it out of Silverthorn, it became much easier to find the necessary tools and supplies needed, as the flatter plains made it easier to spot towns and villages from higher ground. This continued until Dexune 12th, 1521, when they reached Northvalley Capital, where they would attempt to find another companion for their party, to no avail. They continued onto Trenchrain, crossing the border of Southern Ithon into Thamor. The terrain became treacherous once more, with the crevasses in the ground, as well as the murky waters from the buildup of moist mud. It was here, that they would encounter Aki, a Nekum, who was exiled from the secret society of Nekums in Northern Ithon. He was quick to learn to disguise his Nekum features, as they got him strange looks and often was treated with suspicion. Aki approached them, hoping that they would help him get a bearing of his situation, with him losing his memories as a result of the situation. They warily accepted, as they could see the Nekum features, and the tales about the carnage one can cause was not unknown to Vepdor and Allisa. Vepdor told Aki that he was making his way south, over to Yln - Southern Ithon. The muddy terrain of Trenchrain quickly wore down Vepdor's spear, rotting the wooden shaft. He wasn't worried so much about the lack of a weapon, as the journey so far had been uneventful. Plus, his two party members should be more than capable of handling the wild animals. Allisa was quite potent with a battle axe, and Aki was also skilled with his kanite clawgloves. Vepdor doubted the family heirloom was more than an ornamental good-luck charm, so he was hesitant to use it.
The Shining Rapier
They've hit the outskirts of Norapass, the part of a grand forest just barely above the Thellic border. As they were going through the forest, they were ambushed by bandits, who prey on merchants travelling through the Domains' borders. At first, they were able to outrun them, but the group of bandits surrounded them in the forest, which was unfortunately a place the Sky Squires seldom patrolled. Left on their own, Vepdor was forced to use his family heirloom for battle, as he would be dead weight otherwise. To his surprise, the highly-decorated silver rapier held up, and with the light blade made for fencing duels, was an effective weapon in his hands. He could easily out-range the bandit's daggers and scimitars, and the quick thrusts made it difficult for his enemies to counter. Allisa was able to make a breach in the enemy's formation, and with it, they were able to escape up north to the Sunshine Fields, where the farms there often had a detachment of Sky Squires protecting the area. The bandits did not dare give chase, so the party was free to go.The Edgeblades
The kindly farmers and townspeople in the Sunshine Fields helped them tend to their wounds, and the party stayed for a while, in order to train and gather more info on the various locations located in the regions around them, with Vepdor discovering he had a affinity for Shadowflame magic when he accidentally ignited the straw mannequin he whilst he was practising his skills with the rapier, infusing the blade with his flames. On Deboroth 10th, 1526, Vepdor decided to make the party slightly more formal, being inspired by another famous adventurer named Zephos and his partner, whom he looked up too. He eventually had an idea, dubbing the name "the Edgeblades" for his party. When he announced the name to his friends, he received a loud laugh and a weird look in return. Allisa finding the name humourous, mocking it as too "edgy", and Aki said the name was too on-the-nose, seeing as they all used bladed weapons. In the end, they couldn't think of a better name, so they decided to keep it. The Edgeblades were formed.Elgas, the Unknown
Making their way toward Barewood Path for a rumour of a great tomb, Vepdor decided that this will be how they make their name known to all. On their way towards Barewood, a man approached their camp. He called himself Elgas. The party offered to let him join, and he accepted. The journey to the tomb lasted 2 years, eventually reaching the tomb of Ethon, the Knight King. The Edgeblades arrived at the tomb by morning, and when they got closer, the Fallen residing in the mound woke up. The party attempted to fight back, but the Fallen was too strong. Fortunately, when they were on their last legs, the two known as Zephos Dewarm and Daerel Foremaul showed up as they heard the commotion, saving the party. On Grasven 13th, 1528, Vepdor woke up in the duo's home after losing consciousness on way back. He quickly gave his gratitude to the two adventurers and was happy to see that the rest of his party wasn't too heavily injured. The Edgeblades stayed in the house for most of the day, taking care of their own injuries sustained from the fight. Suddenly, a cloaked figure showed up in the corridor of the house, demanding that Elgas be handed over to them. Vepdor tried to get up and fight, but Zephos told him to stay back, fighting to assassin by himself. In the end, Zephos was taken by the assassin, a member of the group led by Ashera Roseberg. Elgas would eventually give chase, showing a surprisingly fast recovery, which confused Vepdor as he thought Elgas was an ordinary human.
To Ashes
When Zephos and Elgas eventually returned, Vepdor was glad to see them safe, and tried helping around wherever he could in his injured state. Zephos and Daerel would eventually leave the house, as they had a request to fulfill. Vepdor would go back to resting, falling asleep until he woke up to pink flames burning everything to cinders outside, he would attempt to get his other unconscious party members to safety, noticing that Elgas was missing. Vepdor would try to look for him, only to face the harsh truth that the flames were Elgas' doing, as he needed to kill in order to achieve his goal as a Dragonkin. Vepdor would attempt to fight back with his meagre magic, but he and the rest of the Edgeblades would be burnt to cinders in the ruins of Barewood Path, with Zephos and Daerel returning to mere ashes.Social
