Prometheus

Titan God of Civilization (a.k.a. The Fire Bearer)

Divine Domains

As both the creator and saviour of mortals, Prometheus covers the domains of Life and Knowledge.

Tenets of Faith

Selflessness. Prioritize the preservation of goodness, rather than the preservation of the self.   Self determination. If a ruler is unjust, they should not be respected or obeyed.   Martyrdom. It is better to die for the greater good, than to live and see all you hold dear destroyed.

Divine Goals & Aspirations

To endure the suffering inflicted upon them by Zeus, and to maintain his sanity.

Mental characteristics

Personal history

Due to Prometheus being neutral in the Titanomachy, he was spared from being at the mercy of Tartarus. Instead, Prometheus watched over the earth, and created the first mortals out of clay. It soon became clear that early mortals were beginning to starve, as most of the meat from their hunts had to be sacrificed to Zeus.   Prometheus confronted Zeus, as mortals were his creation and he hated to see them suffer. He came before Zeus with two offerings: a selection of beef hidden inside an ox's stomach and the bull's bones wrapped completely in glistening fat. Zeus chose the latter, not realizing that it was completely inedible. The bones becane the new status quo, whilst mortals got to eat more, pleasing Prometheus.   Zeus however, was not happy with this trickery, and as retribution, decided to revoke mortalkind's access to fire. Seeing how his creations were suffering now that fire had been taken from them, Prometheus snuck onto Mount Olympus and stole fire, before destributing it to mortals, ensuring their survival.   Enraged by the defiance of Prometheus, Zeus had him bound to a rock, where once a day, an eagle sent by Zeus would torture him and consume his liver. Due to Prometheus being a Titan, his wounds would heal almost instantly and his liver would regow, so the horrific cycle could continue the next day.   Prometheus has been enduring this torment for thousands of years.

Accomplishments & Achievements

Creating the first mortals from clay.   Stealing fire from Mount Olympus and sharing it with mortalkind, undermining the lordship of Zeus.

Failures & Embarrassments

Being chained to a rock and tortured for eternity by an eagle sent by Zeus.

Mental Trauma

For thousands of years, Prometheus has been chained to a rock, with an eagle sent by Zeus torturing him, eating his liver, then leaving. Due to being a Titan, Prometheus' wounds would heal and his liver would regrow, so the cycle could continue until the next day.

Social

Family Ties

Prometheus is occasionally visited by his cousin, Helios, though he is unable to free Prometheus from his torment.   Prometheus was despised by his cousin Zeus for centuries, though as years turned to centuries, Zeus now holds nothing but apathy towards his chained cousin.   Hermes occasionally visits Prometheus, and has been known to even give and receive messages from him, regularly bringing letters from Prometheus to his brother, Atlas, and even helping Prometheus spread important information to mortals from time to time.

Social Aptitude

Prometheus is a gentle soul, known for his kind words, social etiquette and humility.
