Shadow-lurker Gnome {Erethes}
Shadow-lurker Gnomes are a subrace of Gnome that, For unknown reasons, Have an innate connection to darkness. They weave shadow to aid them in their endeavors, and while it seems like a frightening concept, A lot of people don't have many issues with it.
Most Shadow Gnomes feel more comfortable in darkness, And as such they are often thieves, assassins or scouts, And are very good at each. Nobody quite knows how a person is selected to become a Shadow-lurker, Not even the person themselves, As they've had this connection from birth. However, It is a well known trait in most gnomish societies, So there are some special traditions connected with it. Overall, If you are born as a Shadow-lurker, You won't be treated any worse than another.
Some think that they are connected to the Abyss in some way, Which is the default thinking nowadays whenever something is related to darkness like that. Others think that it's just a random blessing from Hecate or someone, Nobody knows for sure.
